You and he were the same. You both hated your lives. You both wanted to stop existing.
Tired of all of the pain and suffering you went through every day, you almost ended it. A voice, almost desperately, calling out stopped you.
"Come to this world." They had said. "I promise...all of your pain and sorrow will be replaced with pleasure. All of it."
You really didn't want to end your life. You wanted to live. But you couldn't. Not in this world. But, if there was the chance for you to live without pain, you would take it...without hesitation.
He had found you unconscious on the ground after falling through the rabbit hole. He saw the scars that covered your arms, face and legs and instantly knew that you were like him.
"Why don't...we die together? That would make you happy, right?"
--
You slowly opened your eyes to the sight of your scarred arm. Was it all a dream? No. Your small ears still throbbed, your long fingers still hurt; Your whole body still ached. And, some parts of your body were still coated in a dry layer of blood. It defiantly wasn't a dream.
You squeaked at the feeling of someone licking your ear.
Kuro chuckled and tightened his arms around you. "I thought you'd never wake up." He said, nuzzling his face into the back of your neck. He inhaled deeply before smirking against your skin.
You didn't make any move to resist. He had wanted to die, but, after tasting 'Alice', as he called you, he was happy to live. And you, knowing that someone cared deeply about your existence, were also happy to be alive.
"Hey, what's this?" You felt his hand on your chest, his long fingers brushing the silver tree pendant hanging around your neck.
"It was a gift...from a friend." You said, looking down at the silver tree. Some of its leaves were studded with blue, pink and green stones.
Kuro rolled you over so that you faced him. He too, lay on his side, one of his white rabbit ears flopped back in an adorable manner. "I thought you said that no one cared about you." He said.
"I said that no one alive cared about me." You stated. "My friend...is dead."
Kuro made a small noise and buried his face into your neck before gently kissing your jaw. "That means...you have no one to go back to, then?"
You tilted your head upwards. "No, I don't. Please don't remind me of that fact." You gently pulled at the ear that had flopped back before wriggling out of his grasp.
The black rabbit made no move to stop you as you rolled out of the bed. "What are you doing?" He questioned, rubbing the ear you had tugged at.
"I'm making tea." You replied, making your way to the small kitchen.
The black rabbit also got out of the bed and stood up, smirking. "Three...two...one..." He muttered. As soon as he finished his countdown, a loud crash echoed from the kitchen, followed by your cursing. The rabbit sighed and entered the kitchen, his face void of any emotion.
"It...broke..." You muttered, somewhat distractedly. Rather than looking down at the broken cup on the floor, you stared at your shaking hand, fresh blood flowing from the palm.
Kuro, also uncaring for the broken item on the floor, approached you and grabbed your wrist, bringing it up to eye-level so that he could examine it.
The cut was deep. He could tell just by the amount if blood that ran down your wrist and dripped onto the floor. He said nothing as he looked down at you.
You stared back with clouded (e/c) eyes. You wobbled on your feet before falling into Kuro's chest, your conscious gone as quickly as the teacup.
--
Kuro was shocked into silence. You had given yourself anaemia, that was for sure, but, he had no way to stop the bleeding. If it were a normal cut, he would have just sucked the wound dry like he had when you first arrived in Wonderland. But this cut was abnormally deep, even by his standards. Sucking the metallic substance out would only kill you. At this point, the immortal rabbit only had one option. 'He might try to take her. ' he thought. No, his taste was quite different than his own. Not only that, but, no one had ever wanted anything that he had eaten before him. You were safe, then, he thought. No one would take you away from him.
--
Kuro shouldered his way into Sangatsu Usagi's lab and the said rabbit looked up from his work with an annoyed expression. His expression didn't change even when he saw you unconscious in Kuro's arms.
"Have you come to show off your prize, Kuro?" Sangatsu questioned flatly, turning his attention back to the chemicals in front of him. "If so, you can leave now."
The other rabbit made a small noise and Sangatsu looked up, finally noticing the blood coating your right hand. The scientist approached you and Kuro and took your hand, your sleeve slipping down, revealing the slashes that covered your arms before sighing. "What have you done to her?" He said, tracing a pale scar under your eye.
"They're not mine." Kuro declared.
Sangatsu huffed and motioned for the black rabbit to follow him.
--
Kuro lay you on the operating table and Sangatsu cleaned the blood coating your hand before applying an insane amount of pressure to the wound. "Why do you care about Alice's existence so much?" He asked, pressing down again. "It doesn't look like she'll kill you, so why are you keeping her around? Is she truly that tasty?"
"I don't want to die anymore..." Kuro muttered. He felt himself instinctively reach for his pocket watch, but stopped himself. "She was...the same as me."
Sangatsu made a small noise and pulled walked over to a shelf stocked with chemicals. He shuffled through the bottles, stopping every now and then to read the label. He threw a bottle of medicine across the room, shattering and spilling the contents on the floor before taking a smaller bottle from the shelf. he moved back to the operating table and set the bottle of the bench before pulling off his black gloves and unscrewing the lid. He scooped out some of the thick paste and rubbed it onto your hand. He also applied the substance to the inside of the wound, making you tense in your sleep. The white rabbit stepped away and put his gloves back on. "The wound will heal eventually." He said, heading towards the door to the opposite room where he had been working before Kuro's interruption. "She'll be fine."
Kuro picked you up bridal style and walked out of the room.
Once the black rabbit had left he sighed. "Honestly, I didn't think he could care about anyone so much." He muttered, going back to his work.
--
You slowly awoke to find yourself on Kuro's bed. You held your wounded hand above your face to find that it was no longer wounded and the slice on your palm was reduced to a shallow divot.
"As much as he pisses me off," Kuro's voice said from the far side of the bed. "His medicine does work." He looked over at you. "I'm not letting you make tea ever again."
"Kuro..." You muttered, holding your hand out towards him, gently pulling at one of his rabbit ears before smiling softly. "Thank you."
