~CHAPTER 6~

I was just fooling around with Todd and then I heard a deafening scream. I looked down and saw the dark blue water turn into a dark red color. I saw Todd crying and screaming as he was bent over with one arm covering the other that was still in the water, with a cloud of blood floating around it.

I then too screamed and then Brad, Dani, Lela, and Trevor swam to me and Todd and laid Todd on the surf board. I hated to look at him, but I wanted to know what was wrong. I stared at Todd and realized he was missing most of his left arm. I saw all the blood and screamed, and cried even more and turned but I still helped them pull Todd to shore.

Once we reached shore Brad took his towel and wrapped it around what was left of Todd's arm. Todd was beginning to feel dizzy and he grabbed my hand with his right arm. "Lilo," He said with a mix of dread and worry in his voice.

"You'll be fine Todd!!!" I screamed with tears running down my pale cheeks. I looked to Todd who was as pale as a ghost and had soaked Brad's towel with blood.

"Li..." Todd said out of breath and paused. "Lilo," Todd said and then he fell unconscious. Trevor and Brad picked up Todd's surf board and put it in the tail gate of Brad's truck. I hopped in the tail gate with Todd and held his hand. I was crying so hard I could taste the salt of my tears.

Brad then drove the truck as fast as he could to the hospital and I saw Lela call 911. I looked to Todd and saw his lifeless body, pale and wet, dripping blood. Todd's once nice tan skin was pure white as snow, and his bright red cheeks were now white as well. his body was motionless and he didn't even twitch. I looked at his arm again and bent over the side of the truck and threw up. I couldn't stand the amount of blood on the towel and the floor of the truck tail gate.

After a few minutes we pulled into the hospital and there were doctors and nurses with a gurnie. The doctors opened the tail gate and hauled Todd's body onto the gurnie and quickly rushed him into the hospital. We chased the doctors and followed them to a room, but once the last doctor entered the room, they slammed the door shut, leaving us in the hall.

Lela sat down crying with Trevor rubbing her back. He was also crying, but they were just tears. Dani was breathing hard and bent over a trash can probably throwing up. Brad sat down with his hands folded in his lap and he stared at the ground, speechless. I was pounding my fists on the door and screamed Todd's name with tears down my face.

I could see through the door window and saw Todd on a table with doctors surrounding him as they pounded two metal things on his chest trying to zap him to life. I cried and fell to the floor. I looked up and saw mom and dad crying as they sat by Brad and they looked to me and then cried even more.

I then thought about when I talked to mom this morning and how I persuaded her to let Todd come, and how I promised Todd would be fine. I cried even more realizing I broke a promise to my mom, and not only to her but to Todd.
