Raini

Westfield High School
8:20am

" You're late Miss Monroe. " Ms. Hunt said as I walked into her classroom.

" Like that's a surprise. " Shai mumbled receiving a snicker from a couple of her friends.

" Shai... " Ms. Hunt warned.

" Sorry. "

I took a seat, already anxious by the attention. Shai turned in her seat and sent a wink my way with a petty laugh following it. I slowly laid my head on my tattered desk and laid there for the rest of class.

Lunch
12:03pm

Lunch time, the cafeteria itself if high school in a nutshell. Popular people sit with popular people. Dorks and nerds sit with dorks and nerds. Stoners sit with stoners and loners— well you should know who they sit with. Me— I'm a loner. Not because I'm new, but because I've always been that way. My Brother Raheem ,on the other hand, is the most outgoing and blunt person you'll ever meet.

Raheem is 3 years older than me which makes him 20. Growing up I was always Raheem's weird little sister. I never really played with kids outside whenever Raheem did. I always wanted to read, draw or write something. No real friends came into the picture until I met Ryan in 6th grade.

Ryan was my only friend. He understood me and liked me for me. Ryan was also antisocial, but we both brought the social side out of each other. I think his was let out a little too much. Ryan and I started to drift apart. Ryan joined the 8th grade basketball team and he gained so much popularity from it. The popularity began to go to his head then all communication just stopped. By the end of 7th grade I was a loner again and Ryan moved out of state.

Me being a loner prevents me from sitting at a lunch table with other people. I took a seat on the chair that was connected to the table. I looked at the disgusting lunch food and pushed it away, losing my appetite.

A presence was felt at the table. I lifted my head and saw hoodie boy. He looked pretty different without his hoodie. He had cute little freckles across his cheeks and nose , a low, neat hair cut; you could tell he took care of it due the the waves growing on top of his head, he had dark facial growing beneath his nose and top his chin.

" Damn, might as well take a picture. " He mumbled.

" Sorry. " I mumbled into my chest.

" You good shawty. "

" Um... is there a reason why you're sitting here ? Not be rude or anything. " I questioned.

" Nah, is there a reason why you're sitting here ? "

Well. I didn't think of that.

" Yeah didn't think it'll come back at you. " He teased.

" Whatever. "

" Isn't your name stormy or sunny or something like that ? "

" Raini. " I corrected.

" Oh yeah... you look real familiar. " He squinted his eyes

" Oh is that why you're sitting here? "
