Prologue

2025, 10 years in to the future

The acapella group pentatonix had broken up in 2020. The members had all been offered solo careers and despite all their promises to keep going forever, they got a little carried away from the fame and their great offers and the group split up. It was a heartbreaking moment for everyone, both for the group and mostly, the fans.

Scott Hoying and Mitch Grassi, the two inseparable best friends, turned out not to be so inseparable at last. They had been friends since they were 10 years old, but the band splitting broke their friendship. They argued a lot and when Scott moved out with his vittnet boyfriend Alex, their special bound teared apart.

After this event the two guys saw each other only four times. They tried to hang out twice, but it wasn't like before. There was too much tension in the air. They didn't even talk about it, they just... died out.

The two other times Scott and Mitch was out on the streets of LA. They said their hello's and shared some hugs, but they didn't even have a coffee. They just walked away, both sad about what had just happened.

Scott and Alex stayed together for a few years, but they weren't meant for each other. They broke up, remaining friends. Scott dated a few guys after him, but no one ever lasted more than two months.

Mitch's love life was more... Eventful. None of his boyfriends lasted longer than a week, but there was a ton of them. Like, there was a lot of boyfriends. No one ever lasted long enough for Mitch to even tell his parents. He barely told his friends. Mitch would see an ex every time he walked out of the door.

When it came to their careers, they both kept singing. Mitch signed a label just a week after pentatonix broke up, getting an insane offer. He now had the same label as all the big names. His career went up and up, it seemed to never have an end to it.

Scott kept singing too, but he kept it a little more simple. He had a few gigs here and there, released a few albums. People loved his voice, but he was honestly never a fan of pentatonix breaking up. He liked singing with Kevin, Avi, Kirstie and Mitch more than anything. He didn't find it as challenging nor as fun without them. When the group split up he was insanely sad for a long period of time. The others seemed to be doing so well while he was laying in his bed crying while listening to Beyoncé eating, and drinking, his feelings.

Scott and Mitch are both going home for the holidays, and they end up bumping in to each other while buying some food. Can the two boys who seemed so inseparable, become inseparable again?
