Scott's POV

As I was laying on the sofa in the living room at my parents' house talking to my siblings and their kids, I started feeling emotional. It made me sad to think that these kids should be playing with my own kids. Of course, they aren't, because my life is shit. My life includes of me and that's it. Could I have worked harder? Should I have worked harder? Could my kids be playing with my nieces right now?

"Scott, can you go buy some food? Your mom is panicking and I can't leave her!" my dad yelled, interrupting my negative and rather lame thoughts.

"Sure, what does she need?" I yelled back. I got a little annoyed that my thoughts had been interrupted, but I was mostly grateful.

"I wrote a list!" my mom yelled while running out of the kitchen in to the living room.

"Alright, I'll be right back." I said as I kissed my mom on the check, trying to calm her down from her Christmas stress.

Mitch's POV

"Hey mom, do you need any help?" I said to my mom as I hugged her from behind.

"Baby!" She said as she turned around to hug me back. She was always busy, and very stressed, before Christmas. I figured that if I was gonna be here I could actually be useful.

"Actually yes, I do need help. I forgot to buy some important ingredients, it would be great if you could go and pick them up for me. I wrote a list, now hurry up!" She said as she gave me the last and kissed my cheek.

"I'll be as fast as possible" I said as I let out a small laugh and went to the door.

"I love you"

"I love you too, Nel"

When I was walking in the store getting the food that my mom had forgotten to buy, I saw a familiar face. I wasn't too sure though since the person had just been walking by quickly, but it sure had looked a lot like Scott.

My Scott.

I kept walking, realizing it was probably just my imagination. Wishful thinking, right?

Until I saw him again. He was standing at the fruit counter trying to pick between two apples. He picked an apple and put it in a bag with tons of other apples and he started walking.

And boy, you don't forget how a person walks after being best friends with them for many, many years.

I didn't know what to do, I was just standing there paralyzed and speechless. Scott, or who I was 99% sure was Scott, kept walking and surprising both him and myself as I opened my mouth.

"Scott?"

Scott's POV

I didn't know what to do. I had seen Mitch earlier, not knowing if I wanted him to see me too. I had tried to get all the things my
mother needed as quick as possible.

I was just standing there when I heard him say my name again.

"Scott? Is it you?" Mitch said with a shaky voice.

I turned around slowly, letting go of my steady hands at the shopping cart.

"Yeah, it's me"

"Oh my god, it really is you" he said while staring at me with his big brown eyes.

"Yep. And it really is you too." I replied with a cold tone, maybe a bit too cold.

"Not too excited to see me huh?" He said as he started walking closer to me.

"It's just been a while."

"Exactly. I guess that kind of made me think you would be a little happy to see me."

"Yeah, sorry. I just didn't expect to see you. Came as a shock I guess." I was barely able to finish my sentence until I had the small boy in my arms. Or well, his arms was around me. I was swaying with mine awkwardly in the air, not knowing whether to hug him back or not.

I decided to hug him back.

"Well, I am happy to see you."

"I'm.. Happy to see you too?"

"At least you tried. Since we have finally met after five years, would you at least wanna take a coffee with me?"

"Sorry, I can't"

"Really?

"No, I mean, yeah, just not now. My mom kinda needs this."

"You're so stupid. My mom kinda needs this too. I meant like tomorrow, or later today."

"Oh. Yeah. Okay, I guess."

"Great. Uh, I assume you've changed your number too, can I give you mine?" He started sounding a little more unsure of himself now, to Scott's surprise. He had seemed so confident and sassy just a minute ago.

"Do you give your number out to everyone? I mean, isn't that a little bad for your safety? Now that you're so famous and all?"

"Excuse me?" He replied, looking at me with shocked eyes.

When I didn't reply he started stuttering a response.

"Wwell, in case you forgot, you and I kind of used to be close and no, I don't give my number out to everyone." He got his sass back again.

"Oh. Right. Well yes, put your number in and I'll see you. Now if you don't mind, I want to get my mom these groceries today." I said as I gave him my phone.

Really, I wasn't in a hurry, I just wanted to be alone. And scream for a few hours.
