               SWEET AND SOUR

It was a starry night when Bella decided to take a walk around town square. She had nothing better to do. Stuffing her hands in her jacket pocket, she wanders down the street. Her mother was god knows where, leaving her all alone. After their car ride, Bella just wanted to laugh at herself. All her life she thought her family were being hunted down, but all it was, was her parents being an Original Vampire's little bitch. And that said traitor, being someone she thought was her uncle.

She had thought that at some point in time that there had to be more than just humans on this earth, that there was supernatural all along, but her mother confirming everything just gave Bella a leap of hope. Something she's wanted for four years.

Crossing the street, seeing as she was gonna stay for a while, she enters what seems to be the local hang out from the mass of noise coming from it. She also noticed it's the only restaurant in town. The Grill.

Bella thought it was a little lame but she didn't complain at all. She always wanted to live in a quaint little town, where everyone knows everyone. Where she;d have the advantage of actually having friends.

All heads turned to look at her when she walked in. Not noticing their gazes, she sat at an empty table at the end corner, waiting for someone to come over to take her order.

This was her least favorite part of moving. Knowing absolutely no one. Bella was an outgoing person, she likes socializing with people, so you can see how this was a problem. She hated not knowing anyone. She became shy and she never wanted to be that kind of person. It felt alien to her. She wanted to make people laugh. She wanted to be the life of the party.

Awkward eye contact was another thing. A new girl walks into a bar, makes contact with a complete stranger. They roll their eyes at her and she becomes the loser of the century.

Taking a deep breathe, she gathers the courage to look up, thinking it'll be a piece of cake and when she does, she immediately looks down and blushes.

Across the bar, Matt looks down and smiles. He didn't think she'd see him staring. It was as if he was hypnotized by her. When she walked in through the doors, he was curious as to what supernatural being could come up next because he knew everyone in town were obligated to attend the founders party. When he looked up, there she was. Beautiful couldn't define how magnificent she was to him. He couldn't describe how nice it was to see a new face either. Being around the same people your whole life is a downer on new relationships.

Biting his lip, he looks up again and catches her eye. But this time, they stay locked. None of them turning their gaze away. Matt was taken back by her eyes. They were almost black, yet so bright with her smile and complexion. He takes in her high cheek bones and curly black hair.

It was really good to see a new face.

"Hey Matt, can you get my table. Elena called, I gotta go." Jeremy Gilbert snaps him out of his trance and nods to him.

"Yeah, yeah." He brushes off the task, not ranking it as a big deal. He loves his job, so he didn't mind. Especially when it came to Jeremy. He probably had to deal with Stefan and Damon.

It was only then that he realized that Jeremy's table was number 7. The same table the new girl was at. A smile breaks out in his face before grabbing a menu and heading over, thanking Jeremy in the back of his mind.

Bella sighed, resting her chin in the palm of her hand. She was bored, nothing was entertaining to her. Other than the cute guy at the bar. In her mind she prayed that he'd be human because there was no way in hell her parents would let her date a vampire.

Bella didn't want that. She really didn't. The boy was too cute to be a vampire. Usually in movies, they're mean looking. And he was the opposite. And maybe when she finally bunks up some courage she hasn't had for most of her life, she'll talk to him. Which was very unlikely. But she had all the time in the world, because she wasn't going anywhere.

After her mother told her about the "family business" she started seeing the world in a new light. She wasn't afraid of anything.

Except the fact that the cute boy behind the counter was heading towards her right this moment. Bella's eyes go wide, not knowing what she should do. She puts her head down, scraping her nail against her teeth, not wanting unknown food to ruin her chance of talking to a boy.

A boy. Bella didn't know whether to squeal in excitement or run away from nervousness. She's never talked to a boy. If Gabby was here, she'd probably be getting a pep talk to stop being a little girl and go for it and Bella will be left thinking, "go for what?"

Oh how she missed her best friend.

The sound of someone clearing their throat breaks Bella out of her daze, turning to the sound swiftly, Bella's eyes pop out of her sockets at the sight in front of her.

"Hi, I'm Matt."
