                      SWEET AND SOUR

In a lot of books, there is always that one line where the person who has a hopeless crush gets fireworks exploding and flowing through their veins. They give us all these expectations about falling in love with the person you have feelings for and it leads on to drama and so much fantasy. It gives false hope.

That's exactly how Bella felt right now. She just couldn't get that stupid smile off her face. After she left the grill, she started to feel like the happiest girl in the world. Thanks to Matt, she can now cross "talk to a cute guy without stuttering" off her bucket list.

Crossing the street, Bella takes notice of the familiarity of the houses. Stuffing her hands in her pocket, she rounds the corner, seeing her house at the end of the street. She sighs in relief when she notices her dads truck parked in the driveway. Not being able to hold it in, she lets out a high pitched squeal, jumping up and down once before continuing down the sidewalk.

"Well that was interesting." Freezing mid step, Bella recognizes the voice instantly, a gnawing feeling in her chest, she continued her walking, hoping he would get the hint and leave her be. Or fight for her attention, knowing she can be a bit of a dramatic girl.

But all that aside, she wanted him to feel the betrayal. She was hurt and she wanted nothing to do with him. Feeling a pull on her shoulder, she throws it off of her harshly, turning around, her hair wiping in the air, fury in her eyes.

As though he can feel the anger in her state, he flinches back. A knowing look taking over his face.

"From the looks of it, I'm guessing they finally told you."

Laughing bitterly, Bella takes a step back, brushing her hands through her hair. "Oh, they told me alright. And I'm really trying to understand how you could fool me. I mean, you practically raised me, so I'm confused how the oh so powerful vampire could have fooled the amazing and strong Isabella Gonzales." Seeing the hint of a smile on his face, her chest jumps with composure. She couldn't take this, she didn't like him smiling right now.

Moving swiftly, she takes a step back when he takes one forward. The smile is immediately gone.

"But then I thought, 'oh wait Bells, I care about him." Looking up at him through her lashes, she raises her finger and pokes his chest, "but he doesn't give a damn about anyone other than himself."

"That's not true, I love you like you were my own." He whispers, grabbing her arm when she turns to walk away, his eyes already telling his pain, and he tries to move his gaze away, but he knows it will only make it worse. She was as stubborn as Rebekah. Needing things going their way. It was a trait he really wish they didn't share, but he dealt with it nonetheless.

Bella's chest heaves up and down, trying not to break into tears. She never felt so hurt before. She never thought he would hurt her. They were best friends, she thought they were related for crying out loud. Bella didn't have much family, and his family hated him, they got along so well. Now all Bella thinks when she looks at him is Liar.

"We told each other everything. I've never lied to you and never thought once about leaving you behind to rot like your family do. You lied about who you are and now I want nothing to do with you. I hate you Niklaus Mikaelson."

Ripping her arm out of his grip, Bella storms away, tears rushing down her face.

Klaus stands there, watching the only person who cared for him, rush into her house, slamming the door with a bang, feeling it in his heart.

He didn't mean it, he really didn't. He told her parents that it will only make things worse for them to keep it from their daughter but they never listened. They never listen to what he has to say about their daughter. Because she was their daughter.

Klaus knew nothing about family, so what did he have to say to them? That it was the right thing to do? He stores his family in boxes, that's not love, its cowardice.

He knew it and Bella knew it too.

Klaus turns the other direction, about to speed away when he catches something glimmering on the ground. His heart pounds in his chest as he picks up the silver necklace. Staring at it for a few minutes, his fingers glaze over the paper air plane, his heart breaking in two, but he kept his face neutral. He clasped it around his neck, setting it down gently.

Tapping it, he speeds out of there, not noticing Bella watching him from her window.
