Roxanne was very quiet in her way home, her mother and sister were happily talking away but she was in a mind if her own. No one asked her questions as to why she wasn't talking or why she sat in silence when they asked her a question. They knew the next few months was going to be a silent and quiet.
It was a half an hour later when she fell asleep, then all of a sudden, pictures of the past began to come through again. A dark horse was again in the picture, a name came to mind but no face. No idea who the person was, then a big THUMP.
It woke her up, Roxanne had learnt now not to scream after a vivid dream. At the hospital if she screamed they'd give her another shot in the arm and she'd end up staying there longer, when all she wanted was to go home.
Where was home though.
Apparently the house they arrived at was her mother Darlene's house. . A big two story, white bricked house, with amazing views of the outback. Brown fences and bright green grass. Roxanne breathed in the fresh air as she looked around her. 'I remember this house' she said to herself. Darlene came beside her daughter, gently put her arm around her daughters shoulders.
'Welcome home' she said with a smile, Roxanne looked at her mother and smiled back.
'Is this home.' She had a feeling this was not the place she originally stayed at, surely a woman in her late 30's had her own place.
'Lets go inside' she said as her mother's smile faded, Roxanne could do nothing but walk with her family inside the house. Roxanne was taken to her room and told to rest, she would be called at One. Roxanne watched the door close behind her, she felt like she could breathe better, alone.
There was a huge window toward the head of her bed side. As she looked out she could see a big paddock full of horses. Looking at the horses gave her a chill, run through her body. She shivered.
Roxanne looked away from the horses and sat on the edge of her bed, she looked about her. The room was white, while everything else was blue. From the bedside tables all the way to the bedspread.I love blue, I remember this room. I can't shake the feeling that my family are hiding things from me. 'The name Stuart Steele won't stay out of my mind. It must mean something to me.' She said out loud. It bugged her so much she decided to ignore her mother and doctors advice and sacrifice her sleep for a clue.
Roxanne started to get up off the bed and walked towards the wardrobe. Inside the wardrobe were heaps and heaps of clothes, she remembered every one of them. A clue. Roxanne was drawn to a dress in particular, she breathed in. There was something different about the smell of the blue, summer dress, it smelt different to mothballs. This dress did not smell like mothballs or vanilla. It smelt like musk cologne.
Why would the dress smell like a male.
