“Evan!” It was from upstairs, which wasn’t very helpful because I was trying to listen to the MP3 I had nicked from the scene. “Yeah just a sec,” I pressed pause and put it down on the bedside table, I jumped up the four stairs and walked into the carpeted room, it was solid beneath my bare feet, so it probably wasn’t new. “You called?” It was Sherlock that had called me and he handed me a phone, I raised my eyebrows and chuckled at the name displayed on the screen it was Mycroft. “I suppose I should have put it together,” I began.
“Well I would have thought it was obvious that Sherlock and I were brothers.” He said his voice still smug and full of himself. “What do you want?” I asked, Sherlock was looking at me and smirking, I rolled my eyes at him in exasperation and he chuckled, Mycroft started talking then though so I had to behave. “I just thought that I would say hi from your mother.”
My face became serious. “What do you want Mycroft?” I asked for the second time, he wouldn't bring my mother up unless it was serious. Sherlock must have noticed my tone changing and my face going flat because he looked intrigued, I shook my head dismissing it, “I want you to watch my brother for me, the good doctor won’t do it so you will.” I frowned and then smiled an idea coming to mind.
“Okay but I want you to get me access to the governments’ population database.” I smirked and the man in front of me looked up sharply, curiosity obvious. Mycroft didn’t reply for a moment as though he was thinking things over then he answered. “Fine, but I want weekly updates directly to my phone and you will only have access from my brothers computer.”
I pumped my fist as John entered the room and he gave Sherlock that ‘What’s happening?’ look, he waved the doctor away dismissively. I hung up almost immediately after that and handed the phone back, without any comment Sherlock gave the phone to John.
“And what did he want.” He asked, I smiled and sat down opposite him.
“Oh not much I just have to tell him what you eat and where you sleep, but he knows all that already. I just got us permission to get into the governments-”
“Didn’t I tell you not to take my things?” John accused, and I smirked as they began their bantering, they truly were very much like a married couple. I stood as they continued bickering and went back to get the MP3 player and when I came back up they had resorted to shouting at each other. “Well you wouldn't need my phone if you could be bothered walking to your room and getting your own.” John exclaimed loudly.
“Why would I walk to my room when it’s in my pocket?” He replied and I will admit I giggled openly at that. They both looked at me as if I had just interrupted something and I raised my hands in surrender. “Sorry I didn’t mean to interrupt you two women, I just came back up to get my jacket.”
“Why where are you going.” Sherlock asked.
“To Uncle Lestrade, he has something I need and I figured I would go get some fresh air.”
“Scotland yards on the other side of London.” John pointed out.
“I know” I answered him in an off-hand manner.
I threw the music player at Sherlock and instructed him; “Listen to track five, if you find anything could you call me?” I smirked, “and I think you should do it on your phone, wouldn't want to upset mother.” I added and skipped out catching a fleeting glance at john’s reddening face.
I wasn’t really going to see my uncle but it gave me a decent excuse to get out of the house, and of course there were things that I had to do, and I still needed to find out where the murderer had taken the other woman, it was too suspicious that she had just disappeared. So my first stop was the bank.
