Chapter Four

Rebekah invited me over to the boarding house to get ready for homecoming together. When I got there she was painting her toenails in the parlor with a dedicated dude in a suit lying in the ground. "Um, Beks," she looks up at me. I point at the guy on the floor, "Who's that?"

"Oh, that's Mikael," she tells me.

"Why is your dad desiccated?"

"To get Nik to come back."

"Makes sense," I tell her and sit next to her and bring out my nail polish, and start painting my fingernails black and blue. "You wearing the red dress?"

"Yeah."

"Cool," I say as I finish my thumb, and start on my pointer finger. I look at the Mikael and see his fingers moving. Suddenly he starts coughing and his skin becomes clear.

He wakes up and turns to the side. Rebekah stops painting her nails to watch him as I work on my middle finger.

She looks at him whilst he sits up, "Finally," she starts, "took you long enough."

"Rebekah, and.." he trails off looking at me.

"Marina," I fill in for him and give him a kind smile. I'm not one to judge too quickly, I only judge on what I've experienced with them.

Rebekah cuts in with, "Whatever fatherly rubbish you're thinking, save it. Nothing you say matters to me."

"I see," he says as he stands up, "Where is my dagger?"

"Elena has it," Rebekah informs him, "So you can forget your plans to use it on me."

"You were never the one I was after," he tells her.

"Nik was my family. If you were after him, you were after me," she explains to her father.

"He blinded you, Rebekah. He killed your mother."

Rebekah gets up to stand in front of him while I started my right hand, "I know what he did. And he'll pay for it with his life. But Nik was not born a killer, none of us were. You did this to us when you turned us into vampires. You destroyed our family. Not him." And with that she walks out of the room.

"Rebekah..." he calls out.

I scoff and he turns his attention to me, "Dude, you've been trying to kill her family for over a thousand years, good luck getting her in your side."

I pick up my bag that has my grimoire, and nail polish and start to leave. Mikael grabs my arm and I give him an aneurism. He groans and lets go of my arm to grab a hold of head. "Lovely meeting you Mikael."

Deciding to get ready at my apartment, I walk outside and hop in my truck. I send Bekah a quick text and leave.

Once I get home I immediately hop into the shower. I use my kiwi shampoo and conditioner with my chocolate body wash. After an hour of washing and relaxing in the shower I get out and will myself dry.

The first thing I do is my makeup. I put on black mascara with a smokey eye, and neutral/tan lipstick. After I finish my makeup I do a wrap around braid. It's a braid that goes across the back of your head. I walk into my bedroom and pick out jewelry. I get dark blue spiky stud earrings, a skull necklace that I got from Nico, a group of leather band anchor bracelets and a silver banded ring that has a lightning bolt, trident, and skull engraved in it.

After I have all of these on I walk into my closet and pick out a dark blue dress with ruffles and spaghetti straps. I get undergarments and put them on, then the dress. Once I have the dress on I get half socks on and grab vans that are the same color as my dress.
