"Oh my God..." My voice trails off as my eyes dart from the shattered glass to the open back door. The cool fall air nips at my cheeks and I begin to tiptoe around the shards of glass to investigate the mess.
Where is the glass from? I think to myself while wandering about. From where I stood, I couldn't see anything that would have caused such a mess... That was until I walked into the kitchen.
With my mouth gaped open in horror, two bullet holes tarnished the kitchen walls opposite the window. Well, I found out where the glass is from. I traced my fingers along the outside of the circles in disbelief. They're still hot.
THUMP. A loud sound rings through the house, causing my eyes to widen. I sprint to the front door, not even thinking about the open one I just ran by. THUMP. Another noise fills the house coming from upstairs. I let out a small Yelp and throw my hand onto the door knob.
It's stuck. Of course this is like every other horror movie where the god dämn girl can't get the freaking door open. I twist it, and pull it with all my might, but it's almost as if someone jammed it shut. On purpose.
THUMP. The noise sounds again and I turn around just to look up the stairs. THUMP. It sounds like footsteps. THUMP. It's getting closer! Just as I'm about to literally jump out the window, something hits me causing me to fall to the ground.
"Please don't hurt me!" I scream covering my eyes with my hands.
"What?" A voice asks. I peak through my fingers to see a disgruntled Joe and Oli looking down at me. It takes me awhile, but I finally process that they are actually Joe and Oli. They just accidentally hit me with the door.
"Get out of the flipping house!" I shout suddenly causing them to jump. I take one last look over my shoulder to see a dark figure standing right at the top of the stairs.
"Have you gone crazy?" Joe chuckles nervously now that we have made it to the sidewalk.
"Someone was, is, in my apartment." I say shakily, still looking back at the creepy building.
"What?" Oli questions in shock.
"He was at the top of the stairs just then! And there was two bullet holes in the kitchen and the back door was wide open along with a bunch of glass on the floor," I ramble as I relive the moment.
"Did you think of calling the police?" Joe asks and I shamefully shake my head.
"I guess I was too scared to even think of that," I whisper rubbing my arm.
"C'mere," Joe says pulling me into a tight hug. This might actually be more surprising than what just happened to me... He squeezes me tightly with comfort, and I close my eyes to relax.
"Thank god you guys came when you did," I breath out, releasing from the embrace.
"Guess so." Joe whispers back with a smirk. Oh no, not the butterflies. I'm just a fan.
"I swear if they steal my camera I'm gonna go beast mode!" I joke pointing to the house.
"If they did, I'd buy you a new one," Joe smiles.
