Jaime was coming up to see Vic, it had been awhile since he was allowed up here. The soft elevator music soothed his nerves as he finally made it up. His hands felt clammy and his heart raced. Jaime couldn't help but let the biggest grin slip onto his face.He expected an empty floor, having memorized Scarlet's schedule, but when the doors opened he was instead met with a frowning boy who looked to be in a rush.
He had purple marks all over his neck, hickeys to be exact. Kellin pushed his way around Jaime and repeatedly jabbed at the buttons to close the doors.
Jaime was confused for a moment and remembered why he was here in the first place.
But Vic would never. . . he wouldn't. . . No, I'm just being silly, that's all.
Jaime shook off the feelings of distrust and opened Vic's doors. The familiar scent of his office reassured Jaime, having been gone so long.
"Jaime?" Vic said. Jaime could hear the happiness in his voice, the adoration, the love.
"It's me, Vic. I'm finally back, I came back for you!" Jaime said to him as he stepped forward.
Vic slightly stepped back, shuffling slowly so Jaime wouldn't notice the small steps.
But he did.
"What're you doing here?" Vic wasn't smiling but Jaime thought that was because Vic was trying to contain his excitement.
It wasn't.
"I'm here for you, silly! I missed you, you know." Jaime told him, waiting for Vic's features to light up, for his excitement to finally reveal itself.
It never did.
"Jaime, you can't be here." Jaime's 'lover' finally spoke.
"Don't be crazy, Vic, of course I can be here!" Jaime laughed off his comment, waiting for Vic to join him.
He didn't.
"You need to go, right now." Vic was behind his desk, unable to meet Jaime's eyes. His hand creeping towards the phone on the desk.
"Why? I waited so long to finally be here and you tell me I have to go?" Jaime slowly started to get upset, his sadness laced with anger as he spoke.
His fist clenched by his sides but he remembered his breathing techniques.
"Jaime you can't be nea-"
"No, no you're right. I'm sorry. I'll just, I'll just go. I'm sorry." Jaime didn't want to make his love upset, so he exited Vic's office and made his way down to the parking lot.
But he didn't leave before he left a little love note on Vic's windshield wipers.
Maybe Vic moved on, maybe-maybe he's seeing that kid, the one from the elevator.
At least I got to see Vic again. I missed him so much.
Jaime just wished Vic would've told him the same.
