"Indi!" My co-worker Sophia pulls me to the employee's station and gives me my apron.

"Tables don't wait on themselves. Hurry!" I drop my bags and head out to start my shift a the local diner. A woman and her child, an Old Man, and a Younger Man wait to be served. The younger guy is like an elephant in the room with his unruly brown hair and capricious smile.

"Hi. Welcome to 'The Diner'. What can I get for you today?" He averts his eyes towards me and stares wide-eyed. The golden brown curls and familiar jade green eyes cause me to do a double take. His mouth turns into a smile showing off his perfect teeth.

"Hey it's you! You're coffee girl." He smiles and puts on a look of wonder.

"What?"

"Oh, wait," he pulls up his hood and puts some shades on. "I don't like latte's in my hand. I prefer them on my shirt." At first I am confused, but then it clicks. I spilt coffee on him earlier in the week and practically ran away from him.

"OH! I'm so sorry about that by the way."

"Really, it's okay." The corner of his mouth turns up revealing a smoldering smirk.

"You did promise me a name if we ever met again though."

"My name is India, but I prefer Indi." I can feel my voice quivering, but I try my best to stay cool. "And you?"

"Oh, I'm Harry?"

"That sounded more like a question then an answer." I say.

"What dessert do you recommend Indi?" He says changing the topic to save himself some dignity. I think his blush is adorable.

"Umm...The strawberry sundae. That's my religion right there." Mentally I facepalm at my lame joke.

"I'll have the religiously good strawberry sundae then."

"Alright."

"Alright." He says and I walk away to the kitchen.

"Sophie!" I drag her behind the counter and smile excitedly. "Hey can you cover the other tables. Cute guy at table 8." She discreetly surveys the area and goes anal when she spots him.

"Oh. My. God."

"Alright. Stay cool and cover me." I walk to the kitchen to get Harry's food when I hear Sophie scream after me. "Get in there Indi!"

My face flushes a bright red and I can practically hear the smirk on Harry's face from over here. I wait impatiently for Harry's sundae and make sure to add a cherry on top because it's cute like him.

"Here you go Harry! One strawberry sundae."

I ask him if there is anything else I can get him and he replies with a no.

"Oh my god this is amazing" He says. Man this boy smiles a lot.

"I'm guessing this is your favorite dessert here?"

"Yeah."

"Would it be ludicrous of me to ask you to share this sundae with me. It's awful lonely in this booth." He adjusts the beanie on his head and I realize that he's in sweats and hiding obviously uncombed hair. Mostly likey a lazy day for him seeing it's 5 in the evening and he's eating ice cream.

"That would be be extremely ludicrous off you, but then again i've always hated normal people.." I get a spoon from the trays and take a seat in the booth across from him. I chuckle as a look of pleasure comes over his face as he eats the ice cream.

"What's so funny?" he asks

"Nothing. Just laughing at the statistical probability that a stranger would ask me to split a sundae."

"I might not be such a stranger to you."

"Why?"

"I don't mean to sound narcissistic or anything, but your honestly don't know who I am?"

"No clue."

"We were in the sames classes all through primary school."

"Really?"

"Yeah" I think I sat right behind you in Year 6"

"So where in England are you from? Your accents not from around here."

"Cheshire."

"My dad was from there!"

"That's cool. Do you visit often?"

"Oh, no. My dad's dead along with my grandparents. I haven't been since I was like 10."

"Sorry." He says clearly flustered as to what he should say next.

"I'm over it really. It was so long ago I don't even know them. You're all good." I wave my hands about telling him to brush it off and change the topic to something less somber. "Why are having ice cream at five in the evening when it's already freezing outside?"

"Well it's a funny story actually. I was out for a walk-" Harry is interrupted by my bosses scream from across the diner.

"Indi!" He's sticking his head out of his office with a sick smile. He isn't particularly unattractive. He's actually quite hot, but not my type. He's too conceited and he sleeps around, but he's one of my best friends and helps me keep from going insane. He's like Johnny Depp when he was 20.

"Yes sir?" My voice wavers a bit, but I stick my ground.

"May I speak to you in my office please?" He smiled a pearly white grin nods his head for the back room.

"Coming." He goes back in his office and shuts the door with a slam.

"I would love to continue this conversation, but I have to go 'speak' with my boss. I'll see you around. Here's your check." I write the total cost and my number in a small font on the bottom of the receipt.

"Bye Harry."

"Bye India." I walk away from the booth and open the door to my boss's office. As soon as I shut the door. He loosens up and throws his feet on the desk.

"So, boss, what did you want?" He heaves his shoulders and takes a seat across the desk.

"I might have to fire you." He folds his hands and places them under his chin.

"Why?" The thought isn't too unappealing since we have a confusing history, but this job helps pay for my clothes.

"People have stop coming here. They all go to that modern vegetarian place up the road."

"It is pretty good..." I mumble.

"I know!" He says exasperated. He rubs his face with his hands and sighs.

"We aren't getting enough paying customers. The building closes down at the of the month."

"I'm sorry. I know that I promised you a steady job, all those years ago, but I just can't keep this place open." He gives me small smile and grabs a small envelope from

the desk drawer.

"This is your last paycheck. There's a little extra 'cause I like you. Go get yourself something pretty for that date with that curly headed guy out there.

"Oh, we're not-"

"Get out of my office you unemployed scum!" He chuckles and nudges me out the door before I can explain about Harry.

"See you around kiddo." I shake my head at my crazy boss and turn around to tell Sophie the news.
