Faust took my hand in his and guided me towards the mass of people.
The music buzzed through our bodies and the floor trembled beneath our feet. He turned to me once we were utterly surrounded and, grabbing me by the hips, he pulled me closer. My hands found their way around his neck and, owing to the numerous pushes and bumps we received from other couples, I ended up breathing his warm breaths, our foreheads barely touching.
We swayed to the rhythm, his arm ocassionally spiralling me around, and, soon enough, we were both quite sweaty.
"You don't seem too impressed" he breathed in my ear, motioning his eyebrows as if suggesting he could do much more.
"I've seen better," I said with a daring look, putting some space in between us.
"Oh, really?" he answered, clearly aware of my intentions, "then maybe I should go impress some other girl," he added, letting go of me swiftly and grabbing another girl.
To catch on with his game, I did exactly the same, turning around and taking a guy by surprise.
The only problem was that this was a small town, and I had lived here my whole life. To this point, there were only a few people with whom I had no relationship at all, whether it was friends, love, people whom I had worked for, or relatives, and, out of all of them, I had grabbed the one and only.
"Chiara? Whoa, nice to see you again... hottie"
Felix. The one and only who had made it so difficult. We hadn't been in love, not even close, but what we had had been quite intense.
My eyes widened immediately and, guessing his intentions couldn't be good, I let loose.
"Oh no honey, you've been playing hide and seek for too long now." His lips brushed my neck as his hand pulled me closer from a spot on my back. "We have a lot of catching up to do," he grunted.
I shot my head in Faust's direction and it only took me a second to identify the only frozen body on the dance floor. He had stopped dead in his tracks and was intently shooting dards at Felix with his eyes.
"Felix stop."
He groaned.
"Let me go."
"Why would I? You seemed sorta desperate when you took me."
"Get away from me," I spat, pushing him against the swaying bodies.
I looked around, trying to find Faust, but he was nowhere to be seen. My gaze shifted from corner to corner, but it was difficult to identify him in between the countless people dancing around.
Rubbing my neck where Felix had planted his lips, I loitered in the corner of the dance floor. My skin was burning, its hairs pointy, as I shuddered from Felix's touch.
It almost seemed like everything in this town dragged me back to that night.
And I only wanted to forget.
That's when I spotted Declan on the far corner, serving fuzzy drinks and chatting with a few other guys.
In an attempt to reach him, I began pulling people apart and scurrying in between suffocating hot bodies.
I felt someone from behind slide his fingers in between mine and his grip grew stronger as I forced my hand away. I didn't bother turning around, so I just digged my nails in his skin and hurried over to the bar sector.
"Hi Dec-"
"Chiaarraa," Declan slurred, "here you go, beautiful," he said, sliding a cup across the table in my direction.
