"Felix?"
Somewhere at the end of the street a creaking window was slammed shut, its echo vibrating along the sleeping houses.
Anger boiled at the pit of my stomach at the mere thought of Chiara being wrapped in such nasty arms. My insides grew warm with the rushing of blood and irritation rained over me with every slight step I took towards him.
"Well no, shit Sherlock," he spat, followed by a fit of coughing. His fingers clasped a homemade paper roll that intended to mimick a cigarette, a white powderish substance sprinkling to the ground as he tapped the end of the paper roll against the bricked wall.
"Want some?" he said, taking a moment to shut his eyes forcefully.
I loitered, still by the desolated street, shuffling my foot against a lamp post, wondering if I should keep searching for Chiara, or whether I-
Histerical laughter blew my thoughts away, taking me by surprise. Felix stood about six metres away from me, blinking furiously with his head hang back. "Of course!" he yelled, throwing his arms to the pitch black sky, "How would you?" I heard him mutter through his gritted teeth, "How would you take some of this, hell no, you're her prince charming, her ultimate beloved conquest-"
"What are you talking about?" I asked, sliding my hands in the pockets of my jeans.
"-Her life saver, perfect-fucking-BOYFRIEND!" His words boomed in the grungy block. "Isn't that what she wanted? All she bloody wanted was a stupid boyfriend!" His fist struck the wall, the cigarette churning into a worn-out whitish ball of crumpled paper.
My mind stood numb. Hadn't it been for a rare, heavy sensation on my forehead I wouldn't have realised I was frowning. His words had tangled me in a curl of thoughts with no begginning or end.
"Look, I don't- uh, if this is about Chiara-" I stammered, his gaze intently on me, "I- we're not, you know, together yet," I said, taking one hand from my pocket to scratch the back of my neck, "...and after what's happened tonight...I- uh wouldn't be so sure about us."
His hand tugged at the round collar of his shirt, the weight of his hand stretching it downwards. A creepy smirk rose on his face, along with his eyebrows. "Ah...but you see," his hoarse voice muttered, his chest rising and dropping unevenly, "that's her fucked-up life." His rage took over him and his bloodshot eyes widened, his body spinning suddenly to pound another fist to the wall, although this time he remained frozen against it. "You think it's going fine, you're having the-" abrupt coughing interrupts his words, "the time of your life and then...something, SOMETHING comes along to tear it all apart!" I clutch my hand firmly around the lamp post and cringe at his outraged tone. My heart thumps against my skin, almost like it would be torn apart any minute from now. His breathing is ragged- but so is mine, as the dread of his words hit me sharp.
"You're lying," I whispered, the words bluntly leaving my mouth.
"What?!" he roars, though an evident decrease in his tone.
"You're lying!" I shouted this time, shaking my head simultaneously, "I don't have the slightest idea what happened with you two, but there's one thing I've caught on for sure, and that's you're an undeniable jerk who can't even take care of himself!" I shot back, making my way backwards, "Do you honestly expect me to believe you took good care of her?! Look at you! You're drugged, drunk and with absolutely no one!" This time I turned around, my vans already hitting the pavimented road, and walking in his opposite direction. "You can only say too much before your actions give you away, Felix." I added, without stopping my steps.
"Fine," he huffed, "but trust me, you'll want to keep an eye on that bastard, Declan!"
"And why would I wanna hear you?" I screamed, opening my arms wide so he could see them from afar. I still didn't turn around.
I could practically see him smirking in my mind when his next words registered in my head.
"Because I saw her cuddled in his
sheets before I left."

PoetryI didn't mind if my fingertips were rusted with coffee grounds, or if my palm still hosted bread crumbs, I reached out my hand across the table, and you squeezed it but proved me wrong. My mind was spiraling, my heart, unstable. ____________________...
