Chapter 12: The Hospital

Beep beep beep. You could hear them sounds. Over and over. Beep beep beep. You couldn't open your eyes but yet you was awake and aware of your surroundings you was in a hospital. You looked around and saw your body in the bed. How can I see myself? You were the spirit of (y/n). You could see everything but no one could see you, the spirit. You looked back at yourself seeing a bandage around your head with a huge blood stain on it and you were linked up to a life support machine. Neji was here with you, sitting next to you asleep in a chair. This looks familiar you chuckled to your self when thinking about that this was how you met him. You then looked around more to see what exactly was wrong with you because you didn't remember how you got here. The last thing you remember was Sasuke and Neji, what actually happened between them 2?

Shizune came in and woke Neji up, she then told him that he should go because visiting hours are over. "No, I don't want to go, I'm the reason she's like this, please let me stay, I have to be with her when she wakes.. Please" he looked so worried and almost like he was about to tear up. You smile to say it's ok, but remembered no one can see you like this. You started to cry as you started to feel so lonely. "Fine I'll let you stay but don't get in any of the nurses way please," Shizune said realising she would never win that fight. He smiled that said a thousand words, but the main word that stood out was 'thank you'. You cried and cried and the more you cried the more distressed you were getting, causing your heart to race. Beep beep beep. The machine started to speed up out of control, Neji looked at the machine in worry and started to call out for any nurse that walked by, doctors and nurses started to run in, even the Hokage was here now. You were put on a bed and taken to surgery. Neji was pulled back and told he had to stay out of it now. As you were brought into the room, Neji was left behind not taking his eyes off of you.

2:47am. You had just got out of surgery and taken into a room were no other beds were, Neji went to walk in but security stopped him "you can't go in there, she is seriously ill, just go home and get some rest then come back tomorrow," he knew that Neji had the best intentions but Neji couldn't stand the thought of leaving you. "Please, I have to be there when she wakes up!" His eyes were glassy and he stood in fighting position. Security had no choice but to force him to leave the hospital. He was taken out and he went home.

8:39am. It was the next morning and Neji had already arrived, he had cancelled all missions he was assigned just to be with you. It had been 2 days now that you hadn't been able to wake up. You were fed through a tube and then it was just you and Neji. He leaned to you and took your hand, his eyes became glassy once again, "(y/n)... I'm sorry... I-I didn't want *sniff* this for you. I promise that when, not if, when you wake up I will always protect you a-always" he gripped you hand tighter and then leaned back grabbing a tissue from the side. What happened? You were determined for answers, but answers you weren't going to get unless you woke up. I need to wake up. But you wasn't exactly sure how to do that, you squeezed your hands to make fists closed your eyes, but nothing. Beep beep beep. That's all you could here, that sound was taking over your hearing and you were going insane. You had to wake up now. Now. Nothing.

11:12pm. Hinata walked in to see Neji sitting by me not taking his eyes off you. She looked at him awfully worried. She held out her hand and put it on his shoulder. He looked up to her, and broke his gaze. "How is she?" She said with sorry looking at you. "She's ... They don't know.. I-If she's gonna ..." Hinata grabbed him and pulled him into a hug. "Shhh. It's ok Neji." He let out a sob and hugged her back tightly. I've never seen him like this. What made him like that? You wanted to cry thinking that you were the one that made him like this. Hinata sat with him until he settled.

3:57pm. Neji had fallen asleep and you were still asleep. I have to wake up, I've never seen Neji like this, I need to know why, and I never told him about how I feel. You were getting so wound up with yourself you were making yourself so angry. Which started up the machine again. Beep beep beep. Faster and faster. Neji woke up straight away and was calling for doctors again. This is familiar. I can't look. As you looked away it all repeated. You were taken away and Neji stayed. You were brought out and heard this conversation between Lady Tsunade and Neji. "Neji, I need to talk to you" she said with sympathy.

"What is it?" He said

"It's about (y/n)" she said

"What is it?" He said with worry

"If she doesn't wake up within 48hrs we aren't sure if we should keep up with the support."

"What?! You can't do that it hasn't even been a week, she's gonna wake up, she's strong, she just needs time! Please!" Anger was building up inside him.

"We don't have a choice, if she really wants to wake up she will. But I'm sorry to say but her machine will need to be turned off" she walked away, not wanting to start and loud debate. Neji sat down in shock. No, how am I supposed to wake up, I don't no how!

1:03pm. Beep beep beep. You had a long hard think about everything and how you could maybe wake up. What motivates me? That's it! You remembered what Neji had told you when you were practising your ninjustu. Think of someone important to you in danger. You imagined Neji in pain and in your position. Something clicked. You closed your eyes tight and imagined him in the bed connected to the machine. Beep beep beep. Everything went black.
