After buying the machete I drove to the edge of the woods and parked my car. I wanted to test this thing out. I had only ever touched a machete for the first time yesterday, and now if I was going to be killing vampires I would need to know how to control it with ease.
I walked to about the middle of the woods until I found a clearing with a couple of tall plants and a crab apple tree. I walked over to the tree and jumped up taking the machete and swinging towards the tree effortlessly cutting a branch down from the tree. I grabbed the branch with my free hand and started pulling crab apples off of the tree. I took one and threw it up in the air. Waiting a moment before swinging the machete out, missing the crab apple. I sigh and pick the apple off of the ground and throw it up again. It took me seven tries before I just barely scratched the edge of the apple.
I pick up a new one and throw it up again and close my eyes and swing with all my might. I hear a satisfying shinggg and open my eyes. I had perfectly sliced the apple without even looking at it. Weird.
I pick up another crab apple and do the same thing, this time I had cut through the apple near the bottom. I did it again and it cut through the center. Again. Center. Again. Stem. Again. Center. Again. Center. Again. Center.
This time I kept my eyes open and watched as the machete easily sliced through the apple in front of my eyes as if in slow motion. Then I got an idea. I set my backpack down and travelled further into the woods. I found a couple log stumps and brought them back to the clearing. I took some twix and made somewhat of a dummy on all the logs. I put crab apples on sticks on the dummies. Each one having a head, heart, neck and stomach apple. There were three dummies all together. After making sure the apples were securely set up on the twig dummies I shut my eyes and spun in a circle a few times before opening my eyes and lunging at the first dummy slicing through the stomach apple. I twisted on my heels and somersaulted to the next dummy and sliced horizontally through its neck and vertically through its head.
I spun again on my heels and lunged at the third dummy stabbing it right in the heart before slicing its neck as well. I returned back to the first dummy in seconds and also sliced through its neck and then backed up into the center of the circle and caught my breath.
Woah.
I didn't know I had that in me. I look at the dummies and their split open apple necks and hearts. I frowned. How did I know to do this. It took me merely seconds to destroy the dummies, yes they weren't really people or moving object so it was a lot easier to stab them but there should have been at least a little bit of difficulty to aim precisely at the dummies with the speed I was going.
So I decided to test my abilities again, this time spinning until I was dizzy. This time I lunged toward the first dummy and stabbed it in the head, then stomach then heart, I spared it's neck and tackled the dummy next to it, pushing it off of its log and stabbing it right in the neck apple. In milliseconds I was standing again somersaulting towards the third dummy ramming my fist into the head crab apple and sending the dummy flying backwards. Another second went by before my machete sliced effortlessly through the neck of the dummy. I spun on my heels and with the push of my arm sent my machete back through the neck of the first dummy, finally going in for the kill.
I stepped back looking at the damage done to the dummies. My breathing was a bit ragged as I stood there with my machete and sweat glossing my forehead. I repeated the attacks. I did the same thing again and again. Resetting the dummies and their apple necks over and over.
What has gotten into me? I wondered as I walked over to my bag and grab my phone. It was about four in the afternoon. I had been in the woods for about three hours. I check the machete and it was still sharp as ever, with the touch of the blade bringing a pool of blood to my skin as I accidentally split the skin open. I take the machete and put it back in its protective covering and place it back in my backpack.
