Samantha's POV-

"What secret?"

"I think we both know the answer to that."

I bit my lip, knowing Kalel on and off for all of high school led me to believe that she was going to tell the whole world of what I had done back in highschool.

"Don't worry, I won't tell."

I tilted my head in confusion, the Kalel I knew in highschool would have paid to have a tv special air worldwide about my whole highschool life.

"I'm not the same person I was in highschool, and I know you aren't either."

"No kidding." I widened my eyes. Had Kalel really changed this much sense high school?

"Friends?" She said holding out her hand. Her voice sounded so sincere but her eyes said otherwise. Maybe I just wasn't trusting enough? Maybe she was being completely honest. But on the other hand, Ian seemed genuinely scared to see her there. But at the same time we were about to kiss. WAIT, I was about to kiss Ian?! So many things were running through my head and I completely forgot Kalel was even stading there.

"Anybody in there?" Asked Kalel.

"Oh sorry," I sputtered, "I'm going to go get dressed." I started aproaching my room when I realized I didn't have any clothes.

"You might want these." Laughed Kalel throwing neatly folded clothes that i assumed to be hers, into my arms.

I knoded my head to thank her and walked in my room. I looked around realizing it was a lot emptier than the room I had back in maine. I then remembered my parents. I missed my parents. They throught I was pursuing collage in California, not park benches.

They didn't know about Drew. I didn't want them worrying about me, they had enough to worry about themselves. They were still coping with the fact that my brother had committed suicide six months prior.

My mind wondered around like this for about 20 minutes, I heard a knock on the door.

"You okay in there?"

I got back on my feet and realised I hadn't even gotten dressed yet.

"Yea, I'll be out in a couple minutes."

I rushed to get my clothes on. I then quickly brushed my hair and headed to the living room where Kalel was sitting.

"Took you long enough." She laughed, clicking the tv off and rising from the couch. "Ready to go shopping?"

"You have no idea."

She laughed, guiding me out the door to her car.

"So, what made you decide to go to California?" Asked Kalel.

I looked down for a minute. The last thing I wanted to do was talk about Drew then.

"Do you miss your boyfriend at all?"

I cleared my throught. "He's the reason I left."

"What?"

I told her about everything Drew had done to me. She seemed legitimately concerned. I could see regret in her eyes. For the one semester she had been in my highschool, she definitely factored into my life being a living hell.

"I'm so sorry about how I was in highschool, I really had no idea."

"It's fine."

"I was a real bitch in highschool. My parents were always moving me everywhere. I was always going back and fourth between Sacramento and Wisconsin, then my mom moved to maine. That didn't help much at all."
