17.
Rio was beyond confused at this point. She was living (practically held captive) at a mansion with seven men who were supposed brothers that claimed to be the creatures most people called mythical, Vampires.Who would honestly believe that actual vampires existed? Sure, Rio had heard on the news about people who had drank someone's blood and were labeled as Vampires but this was different.
These guys were actually vampires with fangs and thirst for blood. But if they were brothers, why were they so cold towards each other like they were enemies.
All this thinking was making Rio's head hurt, almost as if she was going insane. But, what if I am going insane? That would be an understatement.
It was Sunday, which meant no school. There were no sign of the brother yet. Rio decided to visit Reiji and to possibly have a civilized conversation with him.
As she approached his door, she knocked swiftly and waited for his approval of her entrance. And once she had heard 'Come in.' From Reiji she had stepped inside his grand room.
"Hello Reiji-kun!" Rio beamed and smiled brightly at him, only to be met with Reijis Crimson eyes. It was like he was staring through her soul. And that made Rio slightly uncomfortable.
"Good evening. What brings you here?" He went straight to point but still kept his monotone. "Well I w-was just uh..stopping to s-see how...how you were uh doing...yeah." She mentally slapped herself for getting flustered like that.
It was always like this when it came to Reiji. The way he would speak so heavily and serious always got Rio anxious and nervous.
"How nice of you, tea?"
"Y-yes please.."
"It's not nice for a lady to stutter like that. Act up a bit!"
"Yes I'm sorry."
"Good girl."There was a long pause before Rio decided to continue their small conversation. "Reiji-kun?" She asked softly, "Yes?" He still had his serious tone laced in his voice.
"Why just me?"
"What?"
"Why do all of you just feed off me? Why not get one person per brother?""Pft, brother." Reiji darkly chuckled before harshly slamming his tea cup on the glass table causing Rio to jump out of her seat. "Brother?! We're nothing close to brothers. Me and the deadbeat are from one mother, the triplets from another and Subaru form the other. But we are certainly not brothers since we don't act like it." He spoke slowly.
"And to answer your question, that's a stupid idea. That way they'd never learn to share and we'd have to search for a new blood bag everyday cause they'd probably finish the first one in a few hours." He laughed causing chills to run down her spine.
Rio, who was creeped out yet shocked by his words stood up and left after thanking him. As she was heading back to her room she stopped at one door. This is where they keep all of their books.
Hesitantly, Rio opened the door with a loud creak before walking in. It was a small and dark room filled with books of all kind. But one book caught attention to Rio's pink eyes.
It was a photo album. Maybe this could give me some clues! Rio grabbed the album and blew away all the dust that was covering it. She stared at the old pictures in awe as she recognized each little boy as one of the Sakamaki brothers.
There were tons of pictures of the triplets and it seemed like they were having a lot of fun! They used to be so close..I wonder what happened.
There were a few pictures of Reiji and Shu too. They looked adorable as well but their facial expressions were polar opposites of what they were now, or at least Shu's was. He had a huge smile on his face and it seemed like he was running while the picture was taken but Reiji had his head in a book. Typical Reiji-kun.
And then there was one, torn and dusty picture of a boy with snow-white hair. She immediately recognized him as Subaru, the only child of the whole brothers. He looked sad and depressed. He must've been quite alone as a child hasn't he?
But what really caught Rio's attention in all the pictures were the women standing next to the boys. The three mysterious women.
They must be the mothers. A beautiful women with long and silky purple hair with even more beautiful green eyes, wearing a long black dress stood next to the triplets in most of the pictures.
And a women with light blonde hair and calm face stood besides Shu and Reiji.
But the other woman who Rio assumed as Subaru's mother wasn't standing next to him in the one picture he had. Instead, she was standing next to a tall man with broad shoulders. She looked upset, broken and torn in the picture and it slightly pained Rio's heart to see all of this.
They all seemed to have such a good childhood...what or who made them turn out like this?
Suddenly, Rio heard footsteps approaching her so she quickly put the album aside and walked out of the room only to met by none other than Subaru.
"What the hell were you doing in that room?" He snapped angrily, causing her to flinch. "I got lost." Rio was quick to answer knowing none of the brothers had patience.
"Whatever." He muttered and passed her but she quickly took a hold of his wrist.
"Subaru-kun wait!"
"Ugh! What do you want?"
"If it's okay, I'd like to know about your..your...mother." Rio knew this was a risky question. What do I have to lose anyway. The room was silent as Subaru stared at Rio with no emotion. In a swift move Subaru pinned Rio to the wall and looked at her straight in the pink eye with fire burning in his pinkish-reddish ones.
"Who the fuck do you think you are to ask about my mother like that you bitch!" He screeched in her face. Tears were already blurring her eyes as she gulped loudly.
Rio had to think, and she had to think quick. And she brought the first plan she thought of to action; "You can have my blood." She whispered and Subaru's hold on her stiffened a bit.
"What did you say..?"
"You can have my blood.. Just please be gentle and don't hurt me."
That seemed to hit a nerve because Subaru's fangs were piercing Rio's skin in seconds. "Stop! Stop please! You're hurting me Subaru-kun! Stop!" Rio screamed loudly. After what seemed like forever he pulled out his fangs and Rio collapsed to the ground, breathing heavily with tears streaming down her flushed cheeks.

"He råped her." Rio heard Subaru mumble. She turned her head towards him and started at him with confused eyes. "Our so called 'father' råped my mother. He fucking forced himself on her..her name was Christa and I've never seen anyone as beautiful as her. She was mentally and physically tortured till...till that day. She killed herself. She killed herself after realizing I'm too useless to even do her that favor. I'm pathetic and naïve." He cursed and punched a wall making it crash.
"Y-you're not useless S-Subaru-kun..none of you are! D-don't l-let anyone say otherwise okay? Your mother is probably in a better place now." Rio whispered softly. If anyone's useless here, it's me.
"How could you say that to me? I...I was...I was ripping your flesh off only seconds ago!" He seethed at her. Subaru didn't understand why she was always so kind to him, to all of them. No matter what they did to her it never changed the way she acted towards them.
"I understand that you have to do that in order to live. And besides, what can I possibly do about it? They always say 'Forgive and Forget' right?" She smiled weakly at him as he stared at her with wide eyes.
Subaru disappeared in a blink, leaving Rio tired and almost lifeless in the dark hallway. But she knew what her journey was now, to find out about their mothers and to fix their brother bondage.
