New Band, New Start

Chapter Three

Roses Point Of View:

Now that I have let my parents relax and dinner is ready, we are all sitting at the table eating dinner as a family. I think now is the time to tell my parents about the competition and that I won. Here goes nothing.

"Hey mum?" I ask.

"Yes love?" She replied.

"You my favourite band, R5?"

"Yes, what about them?" She replied.

"Well about six months ago I entered a competition they were holding, not expecting to win. The competition involves travelling to America to live with the band for a year and go travelling with them. Well, this morning the winner was announced  and ... um ... I won?! Please don't be mad at me, I didn't even think that I would win, that's why I didn't tell you. I'm so sorry, but please don't say that I cant go, because this is the trip of a life time." I explained.

"That's wonderful Esther! Although I am angry at the fact that you kept something like this from us for six months. Before I allow you to go and take this trip of a life time, I do need more information about when you are going and what sorts of things you will be doing in Los Angeles." My mother explained.

"Thanks mum! R5 said that they would call us within 12 hours of the announcement, to give us all the details on the trip."

"That's great love." My mum smiled.

We continued to eat dinner, making small talk as we did so. Whilst my brother and I were putting the dishes in the dishwasher and clearing the table, the phone started ringing. I ran to get it before anyone else could, in case it was R5. I answered the phone in my polite voice not knowing who it was.

"Hello Rose speaking."

"CONGRATULATIONS!" I heard multiple voices shout over the phone.

"Thanks." I replied, shocked from the sudden raise in volume.

"HI, its R5. We have just called to congratulate you on winning our completion and to give you some more details about the trip. Is your mom or dad home?"  Someone, who I believe was Riker said.

"Um, hi, yeah both of my parents are here as well as my brother. Do you mind if I put you on speakerphone?" I questioned.

"Yeah, definitely, we want you to hear this as well since you are the one going on the trip." Riker replied.

I proceeded to put R5 on speaker, so that my family can hear what R5 are about to say. 

"Okay, Riker you are on speaker." I say.

"Thanks Rose." He replies.

"Its alright." I say.

"So you are flying out on the 10th of December, which is 2 days from now. You will fly out at 10;55pm New Zealand time, so you will arrive in L.A at 2:10pm L.A time. You will be flying with Air New Zealand and we will be waiting for you at the airport for you. We are so excited for you to spend the next year with us. This does mean though, you will be with us for Christmas. Is that okay Esther?" They explain.

I look at mum for approval and she nods her head, indicating that, that is fine.

"Yeah, that is fine, it means I will be spending Christmas with you guys!" I say happily.

"Yeah, what else could you ask for? Christmas with R5 is the best." Ryland exclaims.

I smile happily at the thought of spending Christmas with my favourite band.

"I totally agree!" I reply.

"Okay Rose we will see you in two days, have a safe flight, we cant wait to meet you. Bye." Riker says.

"Yeah and thanks, I cant wait to meet you guys either. Bye." I reply.

"Bye!" They all shout.

They hang up and  suddenly realise that I need pack my bags for my flight in two days. I run and grab my keys to my room, hugging my mum on the way. I head to my room to start organising the clothes that I am going to take with me? I have decided no to take many clothes with me, because I will most likely go shopping and I will also have to take my Christmas presents with me. I'm going to finish organising my clothes to pack tomorrow. I also need to go to the mall tomorrow to get a new suitcase and some travel essentials. So mum said that she will take me tomorrow night when she gets home from work. Well I'm off to bed now, so I can get some rest for my busy day of packing and organising tomorrow.

Hey guys, I know it is short but I have been really busy lately. I have just finished exams and I have to care for two kids after they finish school. I'm currently working on the next chapter, which I will upload tomorrow night.
