Draco snickered as he heard Granger exclaim in anger at what he left for her. Yeah, he probably shouldn't have, but he was extremely tired. The nightmares never let him rest. He climbed under the covers of his bed and quickly fell into a troublesome sleep. There was no escape to the dreams. Sometimes, they were of his death, sometimes that of his mother, but even more so, the dreams were memories of the worst kind. Tonight's was of the night Dumbledore died.

Although it was his job, and although it wasn't him who said those fatal words, Draco still felt guilty that he had played a part in the downfall of that nice old man who always seemed to have an answer to everything. Draco felt it was his fault that Dumbledore was dead, not Voldemort's, or even Snape's for that matter; it was Draco's fault, plain and simple.

The next morning, Draco woke to the sound of a baby wailing. At first, he wasn't sure what was going on, but then he remembered. He remembered the new duties of the Head Boy and Girl, and he also wondered why Granger hadn't stopped the little one's wails.

"Can't you make it stop, Granger," he sneered.

When he didn't receive an answer, Draco began to worry. He walked out of his bedroom to find Granger was no where to be found. Sitting on the table next to Emily's bed was a note,

"Draco,

I went to get our schedules and bring up some food from the Great Hall. Be right back.

Hermione."

Draco smiled at Hermione's thoughtfulness, and he began feeding Emily. A few minutes later, Granger returned with food.

"You've got class first today till lunch. You're supposed to gather all my homework for me. I take class after till dinner. It's all explained in our schedules," Hermione told him.

"Thanks," Draco replied around a mouthful of food.

"No problem," Granger mumbled in disgust. "You had best hurry up. I heard Blaize Zabini looking for you."

Draco began shoveling food into his mouth faster than before, and when he was done, he grabbed his bag and rushed out the door headed to the Great Hall. Once at the entrance to the Great Hall, Draco met up with Blaise Zabini. Blaise asked why Granger had came down and grabbed Draco's schedule for him.

"Us Head students have a new responsibility, and I was taking care of it while she came down here," Draco told him, unsure if he should tell Zabini about the exacts of the new responsibility, but he didn't have to as Blaise led him off to their first class.

"Blaise, where were you during the feast last night? I thought I was the only Slytherine in our year to return."

"I was debating on weather or not to return. I just got here this morning, but no one else has come."

Draco nodded, and they headed off to their first class, Transfiguration with one of the new teachers, Professor Athena Minerva, a muggle-born. Professor Minerva gave the class a lecture on Anamangi, and they were given the assignment of writing an essay on the theory of becoming an Animangus. Draco thought it'd be cool to become an animangus, and he asked the teacher if she would help him to become one. Professor Minerva told him she'd talk with Professor McGonagall and ask if it was okay. She told him to come back after dinner for his answer. Draco thanked her, and headed off to double potions with Professor Slughorn.

Slughorn asked about where Granger was when he didn't see her with Potter and Weasel, but was surprised when Draco answered telling him that she was taking care of a special Head Student responsibility. Professor Slughorn nodded and wrote out a note with the classwork and homework for Draco to pass on to Granger. Next was lunch where Draco planned to return Granger's favor of that morning till he saw her sitting at the Gryffindor table with Emily. Draco walked over to her, and asked why she was there.

"Emily can't stay in that common room forever. We might as well let the students know about Voldemort's child. "

Draco nodded, "I'll take her to the common room with me after lunch, you can keep her till then."

Granger nodded, and Draco went off to his table. Blaise asked what that was all about, and Draco explained about Emily.
