Your P.O.V
"I can't do this anymore!" You screamed throwing the book at the wall.
Zane sighed and stood up to pick up the book that was now on the floor. He brushed the dust off of it and looked at you.
You stared into his beautifully coded blue eyes, and thought of how amazing he was.
"Y/n...you can't succeed if you refuse to try."
"But i have been trying Zane! We've been doing this for three months and i can't do it!"
"Learning to read is like-"
"Learning to walk, blah, blah, blah...i know that. But i just feel like I-I..." you trailed off not wanting to go into that
"Feel like what, Y/n?"
"Like nothing." you said looking the other way
"Okay, so maybe The Sword in the Stone isn't your cup of tea" He said dropping the book and the subject. "How about we try something simple ,like spelling"
You sat there together reciting words and spelling them together, but you still felt like it sucked and that it would never get better.
"Zane this is working." You complained.
He looked at you then rubbed his temples, which was a sign of stress, but it was weird to see a robot get stressed.
"This needs to work, y/n."
"Why do you care so much Zane...Wait don't say it 'ninja never quit' is that what you're going for? Guess what Zane I'm not a ninja!" You said grabbing your bag.
Before you could walk out he grabbed your warm hands with his cold ones and looked straight into your e/c eyes.
"Okay, I understand that you're not a ninja, and that our code doesn't apply to you, but i still think that you shouldn't quit. You came to me looking for my help and i am going to help you. Your a smart girl y/n."
"Okay i just need some time to think this over."
he wrote something on a piece of paper then folded it and put it into your hand.
"What's this?" You asked holdling the paper.
"Some homework. At least try to read it before you come back?"
"Whatever. Bye." You said walking out the door.
***three days later***
"Why is this so complicates!" you screamed. throwing the piece of paper Zane gave you on the floor. It just glided carefully and for some reason that made you mad. You sighed and picked up the paper again as you wen to your kitchen to eat leftover Chinese food.
The first word was "I" you knew that for sure, but then everything else got jumbled together. You had some of it figured out, but not really any key words that stuck out to you.
you tried reading it out loud because Zane said that it worked sometimes.
"I am S-O-R-R-Y," You said out loud. "Sorry, yeah." you said because you actually knew that word. "for P-U-S-H-I-N-G, pushing. you past your L-I-M-I-T-S, limits. I -K-N-O-W, know. That you have been trying hard. If you can R-E-A-D, red? no, read like a book. this, then i wanted to say that i L-O-V-E you."
(If that was too complicated it was just you trying to decipher words. the letter reads; "I am sorry for pushing you past your limits. I know that you have been trying hard. If you can read this then I wanted to say I love you.")
You had been stuck on that last one for a day now, and was considering looking it up online, but Zane had told you once that one must struggle to succeed. But he hadn't taught you what L-O-V-E was yet. All the other word had been covered in the lessons so why wasn't this one. it was twisting in your head and you couldn't take it anymore.
***the drive to the bounty***
You knocked on the door expecting Zane, but you got Lloyd.
"Hey, y/n! What's up?"
"I dunno, the usual, paying bills, surviving on medium wage, trying to decipher this stupid word." you said waving the paper around.
"Well then. What word."
You were wondering if you should say something, because this whole learning to read thing was kind of between you and Zane. But Zane just said don't use the internet, he never said anything about people. Loopholes!
"It spells L-O-V-E and i have no idea what it means."
"Love."
"Wut."
"it spells love, like smoochy smoochy, feelings."
"H-he, loves me." You processed that for a few seconds" Oh my god." you said amazed and shocked at the same time. Because you secretly loved him too.

(HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. My stupid endings are stupid. It tis official. So yeah there might be a part two for this, but idk yet. point is. You and Zane have the hots for each other. Sorry if this is inaccurate for learning to read, i literally don'e remember how o learned to read, so IDK .
