A/N-Hey guys. I'm not gone, I'm just busy. I've got stuff in the making though, so stay tuned!))
"What's wrong with your face?" Jazmine snapped to the cashier, her lips setting into a harsh pout.
Huey's eyes snapped to the golden girl, widening since she never acted that way, usually.
"You're looking at my friend Huey meanly, and I don't appreciate it. I think if you have to be so rude, you should keep it to your [pasty] self.."
Huey couldn't help but be a bit impressed, even though she was obviously being highly immature. He wanted to stop her, as any sane person would, but he also wanted to see where it would go, and he also wanted a job.
"Ah.. I donno what you're talking about?" The boy said, his cheeks a patchy red, as he scratched his neck.
"I'd like to see your manager." Jazmine was pushed to the side by Huey, holding her by her wrist. He had seen enough, and didn't have any damn time for childish shit.
"She's.. Not here yet." He worded his words carefully, his eyes sketching back to Jazmine.
And just as he said that, some rumbling was heard in the back. A girl with frizzy blonde curls, and dark brown skin had the name manager scribbled on a badge clipped to her shirt.
Huey raised his head, looking that way, and sighting there badge. "Ma'am." He said, walking over with Jazmine still by the wrist.
The woman looked up, her arms full of boxes. "The store doesn't open for a while, but how may I help you?" She asked, trying to sound as polite as possible, but just sounding very exhausted in the end.
"I came to inquire about the Help Wanted sign you posted, but your front desk employee said the manager wasn't here.
With that, the woman's eyes snapped to the white boys figure behind them, and he seemed to be trying to hide in the break lounge.
"Thank you for coming!" she said winded, placing the boxes on a near shelf. "Just follow me this way, and well start the interview."
He nodded, walking after the supposed manager. He still had Jazmine's wrist in his hand.
The manager walked a small way, until they were at a door that read office. She entered, holding the door open for Huey and Jazmine. She didn't even question Jazmine's presence. Probably because it seemed that they were together even though they weren't actually.. Together.
The tall woman bustled around the yellow lit room, offering them both a drink to which they declined, but sat in the hard mahogany chair in front of he desk as the manager got herself something.
After a few minutes, she sat in the chair in front of them, sighing. "So, do you have any past work that would make you fit for this job?"
"I've worked at a bookstore for 2 years once. I was a star employee, and the only reason why I left, is because the shop shut down." He said, sliding his Well typed Resumé over the table and to her, who was trying to being as attentive as possible.
Under normal circumstances, Jazmine wouldn't take so kindly to someone who could possibly take her place as Huey's best friend, but not in this case. The manager looked so exhausted, the dark bags under her eyes almost had bags of their own.
She slid the glasses on her head onto her eyes sight, looking over the what would be short a Resumé, if Huey hadn't added so many things that he could do as a side note.
Jazmine didn't know why Huey always needed a job. He had a good amount of money he'd saved over the years, and wouldn't need it for college. It was no question that Huey Freeman would get a scholarship to any school he wanted. Another question to think about immediate when falling asleep.
"You've worked at the book store at the age of 15 to 17?" She asked, looking a bit impressed as he was young.
"I did." He nodded, staring at the wall to the back of her, which was cluttered with certificates, employee of the month awards, and chipping yellow paint. Ironic, it being an art store. Jazmine noticed this, but her mind being wired a different way, made her just think of it as added character.
"Well, honestly Mr. Freeman.. I'm short on people to work here. It's literally only myself, and the young man out there. You're overqualified for this work, but I really would like to let it slide, due to the lack of employees." She looked at the two of them, with a tired grin.
Huey looked to the woman with the same stone face that he always had. Even a sweet face wouldn't melt his heart. Unless it was Jazmine's, perhaps.
"Well undoubtedly, you have the job. You can start anytime tomorrow after school?" She asked hesitantly, watching his eyes.
"So 2:35. Alright. I'll be there." He said, standing, and Jazmine following.
"Thank you so much!"the manager called, relief heavy in her voice.
"See you tomorrow!" Jazmine said, trying to move her short legs to keep up with his long ones.
"I didn't say you were coming to work with me." Huey said, walking at the same pace.
"Huey!" she whined, pulling on his warm arm. "You have to!"
"I don't have to do a damn thing that I don't want to. And if you yell again, I won't get you breakfast."
All three of the things he's said were white lies. He knew that he wouldn't leave her at school. He knew that he would take her to work if she wanted. And he knew that he would have to stop by McDonald's, and most likely pay for her meal.
