"Huey, why did you... Huey, you just passed our school!" Jazmine squealed, turning back in her seat, and watching the car quickly go down the street.

"Jazmine, sit in your damn seat.." Huey glared at her from the corner of his eye, promoting Jazmine to quickly sit back in fear. Quietly, she played with the trim of her skirt.

"Ah, Jazmine.." He grunted, after what seemed like an eternity of silence, his cold stare having returned to the road ahead long ago.

"Yes, Huey?" She asked, immediately perking up, ans turning her gaze back to him.

She noticed how his fingers tightened around the wheel, and his regular irritated expression, changed into one of plain anger.

Which might have frightened her, if she hadn't seen it just about every day for the past six years of her life. She was an insider.

"Jazmine..." He took in a deep breath, closing his eyes for a brief second, before staring straight back at the road. "I'm going to be.... I'm going to Chicago a week after school ends.." And Huey Freeman was not one to be hesitant, so of course this would raise alarm.

Jazmine simply sat there, and stared at the boy, her mouth slightly open. She was processing what he had just said. "M...moving?" She asked in her highest, most frightened pitch after a moment. She was slowly patching everything together, yet she was still completely at a loss.

"What? No." He raised an eyebrow, looking over at her. "You didn't let me finish, Jazmine. I'm going to Chicago, and I want you to come. Damn." Huey thumped her ear. "Don't start crying. I don't want your nasty ass snot getting in my car.."

"Ouch.." She mumbled, and sniffed, holding her ear. "That's why I told you to keep tissues in the car.." She whined, and rubbed her nose with the other hand.

"I do keep tissues. I just hide them from you, so you don't waste them.." He sighed, parking the car. It was pretty dark still. "So? You're going right?" Huey demanded, taking the keys out of the ignition, and resting his forehead on the wheel. Jazmine assumed that he had a headache. She also wondered why he was so stressed out, because of course she was going to go! He was her best friend, for Santa's sake.

"Ah y..yes! I am, of course! I just have to ask my daddy, and see if it's okay with your granddad.." She placed her hand on his back, which made him stiffen, but he didn't tell her to move her hand.

"Well, I already asked.." He sighed, sitting up slowly. Jasmine moved her hand away, and just looked at him. "Actually, I asked as soon as we started talking about going.."

Jazmine immediately smiled brightly, as Huey realized his mistake. "Aw, dammit. Don't fucking smile.." He growled, opening the door, and taking his seatbelt off.

Jazmine only jumped in her seat excitedly, waiting for him to come and open her door. And he did. Huey always made it a point to do things like that for her, and Jazmine never dared question it. She enjoyed it, so it was fine.

Jazmine looked around, after taking his hand. He wouldn't usually hold hers, but he did this time, as she inspected the area. The sun was already up, and she could see some of the beautiful art on the walls, and this was only the back!

Eventually, the got to the front, and she slowly started to guess where the were. She still wasn't quite sure, until thy walked in. "Oh, Huey!" She squealed, squeezing his hand. "Is this an art store!?" She was almost shaking.

"Jazmine, do you remember the talk we had about our inside voices?" He growled down at her, as he pulled the day dreaming mulatto to the front counter.

"Hello, and welcome to Pearls! How may I assist you?" One might think his words were directly meant for Jazmine, with the young sales clerk only looking at her, and paying no attention to Huey. However, Jazmine wasn't paying any attention to either of them. In fact, she was just wildly looking around the store, which was elegant and conservative, but also very modern. She enjoyed the view, but was confused of their business here.

"Well, I am here, in concern to the help wanted sign." Huey frowned at the young white boy, who was just turning to look at him, reflecting the same expression.

"Oh.. Well you'll had to come later.. It's really early, and we're not ready for you yet." He said, and looked at Huey as if he was gum on his shoe.

Huey was momentarily taken back.

"Excuse me, but what's wrong with your face?"
