To be honest, Alucard was quite surprised to see the human girl talk back to the pathetic vampire even while she was visibly trembling with fear. However he sensed that the girl was purposely buying time as if she knew that someone was coming to save her. Probably waiting for the police girl... Alucard assumed.

He would have peeked in her mind if it wasn't for that damn good distraction. It was the sweet intoxicating scent lingering in the air. For the vampire it was as delectable as the aroma of freshly baked chocolate chips cookies for a child.

Irresistible... Alucard closed his eyes and greedily inhaled, relishing the sweet fragrance amongst the rotten pungent odour of the dead decaying corpses. His eyes snapped open and darted to the tree where the girl was.

As he approached the tree, the scent intensified. Alucard's everlasting grin widened in anticipation. His gums ached while his fangs throbbed to sink in the warm human flesh. The nearer he got, the thirstier he became. Never in years he felt this way. His self-control was slowly crumbling.

He rounded the tree only to meet the sight of the human girl leaning against it, slowly losing consciousness. Her ginger hair was tied up tightly in a ponytail, with the fringe sticking slightly to her forehead and her light blue eyes were glazed over. Her face was smeared with dirt and her clothes were covered with leaves and some tears. She was on the verge of passing out.

Alucard did not spare a second thought about her current appearance. All his attention was on her injured hand which was giving off that irresistible aroma. Her glazed over eyes shifted in his direction. A malicious grin formed on his face. He extended his hand towards her and grabbed her injured hand as she fell unconscious.

He gingerly lifted her hand and observed her cut finger. He desperately wanted to sink his fangs in that soft flesh, however the trace chlorophyll on her finger caught his attention. So that was the reason her scent was all over the clearing there. A distraction... Clever girl. Clever yet extremely reckless.

Alucard noticed some drops of blood which was staining her palm. He took a whiff of the smell of her blood. His eyes flickered to a glowing hungry red one. Just a little taste won't hurt a bit... He thought while nearing to her hand, mouth wide opened ready to bite.

"MASTER! MASTER! WHERE ARE YOU?" Seras called from the clearing. Alucard's eyes faded to their original hue as he leaned back, returning to his habitual composure.

He signed as he closed his eyes in disappointment. With a swift movement, he gathered the unconscious girl in his arms and came out of the tree line.

"I'm right here police girl. Use your senses for once," Alucard reprimanded her.

"Ah! Of course master! I forgot about them. It's hard to adapt, you know," Seras said nervously while rubbing the back of her neck, not wanting to anger her master. She soon noticed the unconscious girl in the latter's arms. "Ah! Master! What happened to her?" Seras exclaimed while running towards them to check the pulse of the girl.

"She fainted, like all humans do when they are exhausted or extremely shocked," Alucard stated while walking back towards the edge of the forest. "So, what are we going to do master? If you would like to, I can drop her to the local hospital, seeing that I look more human than you do," Seras stated enthusiastically. But she soon realised her mistake ," I didn't mean it that way master. I meant that i-"

"Don't tire yourself in looking for excuses," Alucard cut her off before continuing,"on the other hand, do whatever you want to do with her. I don't care." Alucard gave Seras the girl and started to walk away. Seras stood there dumbfounded, blinking at the girl in her arms. "Oh well..." she simply stated before walking towards the town, not bothered by the girl's weight.

Meanwhile Alucard was hurrying to get something to drink to calm his burning throat. Something that will calm his thirst for now. He chuckled in excitement, thinking about his new craving. We shall meet again...
