|Nathan's P.O.V|

I pulled Rider onto shore, sand immediately sticking on our soaked wet clothes.

I checked for his pulse and he was barely breathing.

I began to give him 30 chest compressions and by the 25th one, he was spitting out water.

While he continued on with his coughing of all that water that had been inside of him, I whirled around, looking for Marley.

There was no longer any sight of the car for it had already sunk. Wait, a second.

"Where's Marley?" Rider managed to ask but I had already been running towards the water and dived down to where the car had sunk.

I opened my eyes though the salty ocean water burned them intensely. The car was finally spotted, being about 15 feet below from the ocean's surface. That's when I saw her.

Marley was floating but attached along with the car. Her body looking lifeless, her hair freely floating and covering her face.

I begin to grab ahold of her but when I couldn't swim upwards, I noticed her foot had been caught.

I uncovered her foot from the trap and wrapping on arm around her waist, begin swimming upwards.

I exhaled a big breath of air when we reached the top and quickly swam to shore. I carried and placed her body down onto the sand and moved the hair from her face. Her closed eyelids and blue lips made me think she would never awake again.

Checking for a pulse and not feeling one beat made my heart beat more rapid.

I went right away to giving her CPR which consisted of 30 chest compressions and trying to give her air by mouth.

Nothing worked.

Rider who had been watching me with such fear started to panic.

"Why isn't she waking up? She needs to wake up. Don't let her die Nathan!" he yelled at me as if it were my fault.

"I'm trying" I replied softly and slightly worried that I might not be able to get her breathing again.

"Marley, c'mon, please" I continued giving the 30 chest compressions.

"You can't give up, not yet" I gave another mouth to mouth recession.

Again, nothing worked.

Her pulse was constant as before. Not beating.

I didn't know what else to do.

I stopped and looked at her.

I couldn't do anything else to save her. It's as if she were already gone.

"Why'd you stop? Keep going. You- you need to save her!" Rider exclaimed.

"I - I can't" I stuttered with guilt.

"No, no she can't-...this is all my fault" Rider started to blame himself repetitively.
