As I placed my foot on the break, the car halted in the mall garage parking lot. I took the key out of the engine, throwing them to Rider.

He caught them and gave me a confused look.

"I'm taking Cason and Adam with me to check this place out. We'll be back in 10 minutes" I took out a walkie talkie from the compartment and tossed it to Rider.

Adam and Cason had found three walkie talkie radios at the security office at the Santa Monica Pier. We had extra batteris to put into them and luckily they worked.

"What happens if the zombies come?" Rider asked as I opened the car door and stepped out of the vehicle. Cason and Adam picked up their weapons and walked over next to me.

"You report it to us", I told him, holding up the radio that I had, "and meet us in the front of the mall". Rider gave me a slight nod as my eyes trailed to Marley. She had been asleep and we hadn't bothered to wake her up for this. She hasn't been sleeping well lately, especially with her panic attacks she's been getting every now and then. It would be best that she sleeps through this one.

"Don't let anything happen to her", I said to Rider and turned away, looking for the stairs. I was hoping that the mall would be safe for us, since every other place we have looked at, seems to have crawlers around.

We all found the stairs and climbed down the steps, which led us to a door. I reached for the handle, pulling it, and it opened.

When we walked inside, it was a long hallway, but we managed to get through it. I opened another door, which led us inside the mall.

Cason, Adam and I all took a look around. All around were stores, from Jc Penny to Hollister.

"Holy shit", I heard Cason gasp, and walk over to the Nike's store. He admired a pair of shoes that were on display in a glass and looked at me.

"I've been wanting these for a long time, you don't even know how much these cost", he explained, shaking his head at how much they had been worth.

"Well, no one seems to be around except us", I told him, eyeing the shoes and then him. He smiled with such joy, jumping into the air and ran inside the store to get the shoes.

I faced toward Adam, but he was already at some other store, across from Nike's, fishing out for some clothes.

Maybe, this place could work out for us. No zombies seem to be approaching the premises and everything is free, so why not?

I reached for my radio, pressing down the button, and spoke into it.

"Rider, get Marley and come inside the mall, cause I think we've found ourselves a new home".

My eyes fluttered open, as two arms, picked me up and carried me. I looked up, my eyes meeting with Rider's.

"What's going on?", I asked him as he walked. We were in some sort of garage parking lot. This place seemed so familiar.

"We've found a new home", he told me and smiled. I smiled back and told him that I could walk so he put me down, and we walked down some stairs. We opened a door, which was most likely a back door and followed the hallway which led only one way. It led to another door and as Rider opened it, my eyes widened, remembering the place.

It was the mall. Literally, my heart did a flip and I was beyond exhilarated. The mall was my favorite place. I only got to come to the mall, rarely, but here I was today, at a mall, living here. The best part about it, everythings free.
