Dale was right. There had been supplies and a vehicle here. We also managed to find a first aid kit, which was helpful to the scrapes and cuts, most of the guys and I had gotten when the jump.
"That's gonna sting huh?" Rider asked. He was the last one I was fixing up by cleaning up his scraped knees.
"I would be lying if I say it doesn't" I replied and gently wiped the cut with a cotton ball filled with rubbing alcohol.
He winced at the slight sting of the rubbing alcohol. I patted a anti-infection ointment cream and covered it with a bandage.
"There you go. All done" I said and smiled at him. He smiled back and looked deep into my eyes.
"Marley, there's something I need to tell you" he began to say.
Dale walked into the room.
"Rider, if you don't mind, I need a minute with Marley" Dale chimed in before Rider could say anything else.
"Yeah, that's fine. It can wait" he said to me and left the room.
I looked outside the window, seeing only tall buildings.
"The car might still be awhile. It wouldn't turn on" Dale began to say.
Nevertheless, Cason grew up with his dad who was a mechanic so he was going to fix up the car in no time. In a grateful way, I'm glad I have them. Each guy here has their own special talent which can be used.
Adam being a very skilled, sword fighter. Cason the mechanic. Rider, the brains, who was beyond intelligent enough to hack into most things. Whenever we needed electricity and if there was any, Rider was the guy who could get it. Last but not least, there was Dale. He was our leader. A damn good one may I add.
He always made sure everyone was okay and treated us like if we were his siblings. He was meant to be the leader and I'm very glad that I got stuck with him. If it weren't for him, I probably wouldn't be here today.
The thing that left me clueless was that what was I needed for? I wasn't a sword fighter or good at fixing cars or even had the intelligence to obtain electricity. I wasn't even a good leader. Thank God, I am not the leader because I don't think I would even qualify.
So what was I then? I don't see any point for me to be with them since I'm no use. What do I do that makes me a part of this pack?
"Your brave" Dale had said.
Oops. Did I say that out loud?
"What do you mean I'm brave? Isn't everyone brave?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.
He shook his head in disagreement.
"No, not everyone is as brave as you. The way you always fight the zombies. How you helped Rider today and jumped that ledge. And not to mention, how you handled Zoey" he told me and then turned his head to stare out the window.
The last part had gotten to me but he was right. I had to do what I did, even if it hurt me on the inside.
"Name one girl, who would had done those things" he asked as I began to think.
No girl would have been able to do what I did today. Well at least the girls I knew. The day we were attacked, every girl cried about not being able to go to the mall again and not being able to use the internet anymore.
