One Call Away
It's hard being the new girl. It's been only months since I started in this business pero ang dami na agad nangyari. I'm not complaining though. Sobrang daming blessings ang dumadating sa buhay ko and I'm very grateful for it. Pero syempre di mo maiiwasang walang mga taong judgemental. Mga Pinoy pa? Eh likas na judgemental tayo. 90% of the time, we judge people without even trying to get to know them.
"Ayos ka lang?" the guy beside me asked.
"Ha? Yeah. I'm okay. Bakit?" pagtataka ko.
"Wala lang. You're very quiet lang kasi." he replied. I chuckled at him at napalingon siya sa akin. "Bakit?"
"Alden, alam mong tahimik talaga akong tao." sabi ko making him laugh.
"Oo nga. Pero itong nakaraang mga araw kasi di ka ganyan katahimik. I mean, di yung parang wala ka sa sarili. Is something bothering you?" he asked, concern evident in his voice.
"Wala. Wala to." I said, shaking my head. He's not convinced with my answer though. Maski naman ako hindi eh. Ang daming bumabagabag sa akin nitong nakaraang araw and I don't know how to handle them.
"Maine..." aniya.
"Wala to. Nappraning nanaman ata ako." I smiled.
"Is this about Julie?" he asked.
Natameme ako saka napaiwas ng tingin. Julie... I've been wanting to talk to her pero di ko alam kung paano. Our schedules don't match at nahihiya rin ako. Alden has been telling me that I have nothing to worry about dahil magkaibigan lang sila. But that's just his side of the story. Paano yung side ni Julie? And with all the issues na ilang years na ang lumipas but fans kept on talking about? Paano naman ako mapapaniwalang magkaibigan nga lang sila?
"Uhm..."
"Why don't you just talk to her?" tanong niya.
"Nahihiya ako..." I replied, scratching my head. "Di ko alam anong sasabihin ko. Di ko alam paano siya iaapproach. Di ko--" natigilan ako when he handed me his phone.
"Come on. Talk to her para di ka na bothered." aniya. "I dialed her number already. Sige na."
I took a deep breath saka ko na kinuha ang phone niya. Sure enough, his phone is trying to call Julie. Para akong sisintensyahan na ewan. Di ko alam kung matatae ba ko sa kaba o maiihi o masusuka. Basta ang weird ng feeling.
"Oh. Napatawag ka, Alden?" a girl said from the other line. I cleared my throat saka nagsalita.
"H-hello. This is Maine..."
"Maine? Oh! Hi, Maine! Napatawag ka ata?" she asked. Obvious sa boses niyang di siya naorient that I will be calling her using Alden's phone. Well ako din naman. Di ako inorient nitong si Alden na ngayon na pala ang tamang panahon namin na mag-usap ni Julie.
"Uhm... Ano po kasi..." I drift off and looked at Alden who was just watching me.
"May problema ba? Ayos lang ba kayo ni Alden diyan? Tsaka wag mo na ko i-po. Magka-age naman tayo eh." she said.
"Uhm... Yeah. We're okay. I mean. Okay naman. Wala namang problema. Ano lang kasi... Uhm... C-can I ask you something?"
"Sure. Ano ba yun?"
