"God! Why can't he just leave us alone?!" Connor yelled walking into his room and slamming his door shut. I sat down on his bed and pulled my knees up to his chest. "I'm jumping in the shower." He said and walked into his bathroom shutting and locking the door behind him. I sighed and got up off of his bed. I walked over to the shelf that hung on the wall. A black picture frame sat there perfectly with a crack in the glass. It must've broke when Riley trashed the room. The frame held a picture of Connor and Riley. Connor looked to be six and Riley 4. They were both smiling big and wearing the same shirt. I couldn't help but think that I ruined that relationship they once had.

I crept out of Connor's room once I heard the water start in the shower. I walked across the hall to Riley's room. He was lying on his bed with an icepack against his face.

"Ri..." I said walking in further. "Can I call you Ri again?" He nodded slowly and looked up at me. He removed the icepack which revealed a black and blue mark on his jawline.

"I'm the one who should be mad? Right?" Riley asked me. He had a point. Connor should'nt be mad. Him and I are the bad people, not Riley.

"Yea...I guess." I said and sat down next to him. "Maybe you and Connor should talk." I told him and he looked at me.

"You did see what he did to me in the driveway right? Imagine what he'd do if we were in a room together. Connor might be super skinny but he can punch hard. He scares me sometimes when he gets angry."

"Look, I'm sorry for what I did to you. I know it was wrong and Connor knows it was wrong too. He understands that you're mad and he understands why but he just wants forgivness and he wants you to leave me alone."

"Do you want me to leave you alone?" He asked and I just sat there silent. I didn't know how to answer that. I didn't want Riley out of my life but I did want him to let Connor and I have a relationship. I looked at him and gave him a look that let him know I wanted him in my life just not IN my life. He nodded and I got up and walked back over to Connor's room. He was just putting his shirt on when I walked in.

"Where'd you go?" He asked.

"Just to talk to R-your mom." I caught myself.

"My mom? Ali, I know you were talking to Riley." He said walking up to me. He grabbed my waist and pulled me closer to him.

"You need to talk to him. He's scared to talk to you though."

Connor rolled his eyes and grabbed my hand, "Come on." He said and led me back to Riley's room.

Connor walked in and sat on the bed next to his little brother. I stayed in the doorway and just watched and listened.

"I'm sorry." Connor said and Riley kept his head down. "For everything."

"Me too." Riley said but you could hardly make out his words.

"You have nothing to be sorry about." Connor told him and Riley shook his head.

"Your room, the things I said to you, your coffee this morning." Riley said and Connor chuckled.

"Don't worry about the coffee, bro."

"I'll replace anything I broke, I promise." Riley said.

"Don't worry about it."

Riley sat there quiet for a while with the icepack still on his face. Connor stared at him with guilt in his eyes for leaving the mark on his brothers face.

"I don't hate you." Riley let out. Connor gave him and small smile and a nod letting Riley know he didn't hate him either. "I want you to be happy and I want Ali to be happy so..."

"Thanks." Was all Connor said and Riley and Connor ended up in a bro hug. I could faintly hear them exchange 'love you bro' to eachother in a whisper. Connor got up and walked towards me. He grabbed my hand and before we went back to his room and smiled at Riley and he smiled back.

We walked across the hall to Connor's room but were stopped at the doorway by Joan.

"Connor? Ali?" She questioned. "What? Why are you two holding hands? Where's Riley?" Connor and I exchanged looks and I took a deep breath.

"Joan, Connor and I have to tell you something that's going to take lots of explaining." I said and she nodded like she understood. We followed her downstairs to the living room and sat down. I took a deep breath before I began the story.
