Three months.
I blinked, looking down at the calendar in shock. It had already been three months. My eyebrows drew together in confusion. I shook my head.
"Unbelievable isn't it?" Carrie asked.
"Yeah, These few months have been so great. It went by in the blink of an eye."
"Well, that might be because yu've been working so hard to get your first book published," She said shaking my shoulders with a joyful smile.
"Yeah, And I have yet to find anyone," I muttered lowly.
"But you will El, I know you, and I've read your book, it's amazing. It'll be hitting the top ch--" The desk phone's high pitched ring cut her off. We turned to face it as it continued to ring off the hook.
"You going to get that?" I asked.
"Um... Yeah!" She said, quickly jumping to yank the phone off of the hook, "Mullingar Orphanage, this is Caren, How may I help you?" She asked cheerily.
"Yes, She is here, Okay," A smile grew on her face as she giggled slightly under her breath, "Yeah. Well,Um... Of coure I can give you the address." She gave the caller our address and bid him goodbye before hanging up the phone. She turned to me with a small smile on her face, her eyes begining to brim with tears.
"What's wrong? What happened?" I asked quickly, running to her side.
"You got adopted, the guy is coming here tomorrow morning to pick you up," She said happily.
"What? Who is it?" I asked. Her face shifted into confusion.
"Um... Well, I don't exactly... know really."
"You don't know who called?" I asked, curiously.
"Nope, We will have to see then tomorrow, so now it is a surprise."
"I don't like surprises, I used to get too many."
"Don't worry, I'm sure you'll be fine. I bet you'll like him," She said assuringly.
"Well, I guess I can wait, I'll be fine." No I won't.
And of course, I was not okay. At all. It was ne extremely restless night for me. I tossed and turned, waking Meredith who had to turn over to tell me bluntly, to, and I quote, "Shut up, or get out."
So I rose out of bed and sat at the window writing countless numbers of plotlines by the big window until the sun rose. And then I clocked out.
"Izz! Izzie! Get up! You already missed breakfast and lunch, It's almost three o'clock!" Meredith shook me and I groaned.
"What? What do you mean? I just took a small nap?" I asked.
"No, you took a nap for nine hours, you hit the window pane at five in the morning and you scared the crap out of half the psserby's who saw your face pressed up against the glass. One kid tapped your face but you didn't wake up. So we took a few pictures."
"Wait! That guy is supposed to be here today? Carrie! What time was he supposed to be here?" I asked.
"Like in twenty minutes?" She muttered, checking her watch. My eyes widened and I darted for te washrooms. I took a two minute shower and dried my hair as quickly as I could. Which wasn't going to dry it at all, so I pinned it up in a messy bun.
"Is he here yet?" I asked. Walking into the large open foyer.
"Yeah! He's in the kitchen, chatting it up with Carrie, I tink he likes her or something," Meredith said, a tinge of jealousy lacing her words.
"Okay," I dragged, moving into the kitchen. Carrie was facing me and my new "foster parent" was facing Carrie.
I coughed noticing the intense scene between the two. Carrie was red in the face, while looking completely lost in whatever color eyes the man had. Was he really that good looking?
"Oh! El, this is yor new foster brother," She alughed a the man turned around to face me.
"B-BLake?" I asked. His boyish features gave it all away s I felt tears brim my eyes.
"I wanted it to be a surprise, so Carrie helped me keep this a secret. I wanted to surprise you," He spoke kindly.
I pulled him into a bone crushing hug, tears rapidly flowing from my eyes. "Blake, Where have you been for five years?" I asked.
"In London, making a life so I could come back and I could be the perfect rother for you, I just didn't know it got this bad. Benny boy didn't even know where Cruella sent you off to, so I had to internet search you. It took me a long time to find you."
I sighed, It was all begining to come together. The greatness of it all. I smiled. "Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!" I shouted, jumping up and down.
...
"I promise to come visit!" I told Carrie and Meredith.
"Don't worry, we will definitely be down here a lot," Blake said looking towards Carrie. She blushed and held my shoulders.
"You know you have to get that book published, you will get it published, because you are amazing, everyone here has faith in you. Go big and show that evil foster mother what you are capable of. Okay?"
"You got it! I'm going to make this orphanage the happiest place on earth."
"We'll miss you, Call me, okay?"
I nodded. Stepping out the door and into the Mullingar drizzle.
