I sat in the isolation of my room waiting for morning to arrive. I wanted so badly to see the sun rise above the empty backyard of the institution, a ray of hope bursting through my barred window lighting up the area i was locked in. The screams of the other patients filled my ears. It wasn't the pleasant type of scream either, it was the kind that pierced your soul and sent shivers down your spine. I was compared to these freaks, those police guys put me in here thinking i was one of them.
"shut up.. shut up.. shut up.." I couldn't handle the noise anymore, i needed rabbit. fox needs rabbit, without rabbit its just fox.. "Hey, you giant clutz, over here." i looked out the window to see her standing there, staring at me with exasperation. I held my hands up like guns, "Bang Bang!" i tried to shoot the image of rabbit out of my mind.
"Now what did i ever do to you to deserve that?" Rabbit said shouting through the window, just loud enough so i could hear her.
"You. are. not. real. Its bed time. Now hop away my sweet." I said, convincing myself she was just another character of my imagination.
"Lunatic. Its me Alex, remember?" She was yanking at the bars on my window and knocking on the wall around it, looking as if she was studying the area.
"Your name.. youre real.. b-but" I paused, letting myself remember how i got here. "Lots of blood.. I didn't do it, please help me rabbit.. please" Tears of desperation ran down my cheeks, I cant stand it in here..
"I know. Go to sleep Matthew, Ill be back in the morning.. be ready." Alex said with a concerned look. I didnt know what she was planning, all i had left were questions but the second i walked back over to the window she left. I watched as she climbed through a cut opening in the yard fence and ran away into the field that filled the open area beyond the institution.
'Will she back ? What if i get stuck in here forever... everyone forgets about the fox..'
