I'm busy looking for an extra knee supporter that day. Music coming from my headset was literally deafening. I really don't mind people around me especially when there is a mall-wide sale. I am lost with my music and too focused to look for my necessities.
Somebody tapped my shoulder and when I turned - a b*tch from the past is grinning from ear to ear. I pulled my headset to hear what dark schemes she has to say.
"Hey! I've been calling your name for a while. Obviously, you can't hear me. How you've been?!" She is too excited that she forgot that we are not friends. And what on earth did I do to have this conversation with her? Without waiting for me to answer her greeting, the witch was unstoppable from talking. I am pretty much of a poker face so I have no problem handling the situation.
Why is she talking to me?!
I kept on reminding myself to strain from shaking. I can't stand her, honestly.
I wanted to get the hell out of her sight when she grabbed my arm that sent shivers. That mere touch felt like she put a curse on me. That's how much I dislike her.
"You won't believe who I am with," she said. The witch waved her hand as if calling her underlings to rise from underground for an attack. From my blind side, somebody messed up my hair and the witch immediately linked her arms with him. He was a friend and my senior in theater. No wonder the witch wanted to keep me at bay - to brag that she's dating the guy that didn't give her a second glance back in the day.
To my surprise, he started singing!
"Summer loving had me a blast." Then he pointed at me. As if saying that I should sing the girl's part.
I didn't. I just stared - the witch is with my friend. This is too much to take in at once.
With a sudden motion, he put his arm around my shoulder and gestured to the witch's direction, "I met a girl crazy for me." I thought the singing part was over. He smiled and gave me a nudge.
What is there for me to do?
Bewildered, I go with the flow, mumbling - "Met a boy cute as can be."
And together, like two old fools - "Summer days drifting away / To, oh, oh the summer nights."
It was the song we performed together in a musical event.
"Hiyah, Cicay! You know your lines well. Where have you been hiding, huh?!" He messed my hair again and pinched my cheeks. Ugh! Why is he acting childish in front of the witch... his girl? I'm not against any relationships concerning my friends. But I had a very deep scar caused by bully incident with that same freaking witch.
Flashback.
At first, I don't pay any attention to all the name-calling and insults. After all, I am a mere stranger in their territory. There was a time that they became aggressive that led to injuries. I had a few fights, but that's just to defend myself. When they knew that I'm not holding back, they started ganging up and sabotaged my school activities. One thing led to another, until somebody got seriously hurt.
Seriously, I HATE bullies. And I've never dream of seeing the witch again. To what devil do I owe to deserve this punishment?
In my mind, I just want to jump on her and give her a beating.
Two days later, I received an email.
Hi Cicay.
My apologies for dragging you to join us the other day. I know you despised every minute of it. To clarify things, she's not my girlfriend. I had to accompany her because Rick didn't show up. I'm just teasing you to see how you would react. Besides, she's the one who made our lives miserable, right?
Be strong. Sing your heart out! Nice to see you again, dear.
Hmmmm... So, the witch had another trick. Anyway, all well that ends well. To think that he might end up with her? A very bad joke indeed. Oh well, loyalty with friends won't be affected by any witch's hex. Thankfully, my friend didn't lost his mind.
Pray, I won't meet the witch again.
I might unleash my inner devil. :D
