Camila's POV

Shit, shit, shit!

"Camz- I mean Camila, how um are you?" She asks looking up at me.

"Uh goo- actually. Great I've been great," I smile looking back at Maia.

I remember trying to tell Lauren about Maia.

_______

"Lauren? Um hi baby," I smile at my girlfriend.

We had been together for a month, close to it.

"Hey babe, what's up?" She slurs slightly.

I knew Lauren had an alcoholic addiction brewing inside of her, but I was afraid of what she'd do if I had called her out on it. Lauren had the tendency to break things when she was mad and drunk.

"You should ride me tonight babe," she comes up to me. Her hand reaching around to my butt.

"I-i have to tell you something," I say pushing away from her slightly.

"What? It can't be too important," she bites her lip, I could tell she was sobering up.

"I'm just gonna say this," I sigh.

Lauren looks at me concerned, "Say it," her voice was hushed, which made me feel a lot less nervous.

"I'm... Pregnant," I say.

I didn't look into Lauren's eyes, but I felt her arms drop from my waist.

"I used a condom every time," she paced.

"You uh, didn't last week... When you came home.. I didn't want too... But uh-" I was cut off by a smash.

"I raped you?" She yells in confusion.

"You were drunk," I look down at the floor.

"Camz, get out. I don't want to hurt you anymore," she says and I quickly grab my hidden suitcase. I had packed it incase of this.

"I'm sorry Lo," I say closing the door behind me.

______

"Is that her?" Lauren asks seeing the little girl hiding behind me.

I nod sitting down, "Lauren, meet Maia Rose Cabello." I sit my daughter in my lap.

"Hi Maia, I'm Lauren." Lauren turns and faces the smaller girl.

Maia leans back into me, giving a small wave. "I'm... Sorry Cam... ila," she had to force herself to call me Camila and not Camz.

"Honestly, it would've been better if you were there. I needed you," I say looking at her, I pulled my phone out and pulled the Nick Jr. app up for Maia to play while I talked.

"I couldn't stay," she sighs.

She could've, I could have helped her become better.

"Camila you know out of all people know how I work, I went to rehab, and I finished college. I'm starting my work at a new school as a teacher. I can be here, I know I can. If you let me. I'm not just going to walk in like nothing happened, and I'm not just going to walk into neither of your lives. I want to become a part of both of your lives." She pleads, looking me straight into my eyes.

"Okay," I say simple.

She looked at me like I was an alien. "Only two things,"

She nods.

"When was the last time you touched an alcoholic drink?"

"The night you left," she looks at me.

"And where are you working?" I ask.

"I'm going to become an art teacher at Miami K-12," she shrugs.

"I'm a high school reading and English teacher there," I smile.

Her smile widen, "So uh how do you want me to contact you? And what about Maia, do you want to set a-"

I cut her off "Give me your phone and I can call you for dinner sometime. Also we could do a lunch thing."

She hands her phone to me but grabs it back to unlock and open her contacts.  I put my number in and change my name to Camz. Then I hand the phone back to Lauren, locking the phone.

"Maia this Lauren, why don't y'all u ask her to play soccer with us?" I ask the small girl tying my hair up in a ponytail.

Maia smiles looking over to Lauren. Lauren's eyes light up at the sight of Maia hold a small soccer ball up to her.

I stood up as Maia ran to the open grass, Lauren quickly followed.

I replayed what had happened over, this is crazy. One minute it's just Maia and I.. Now Lauren had popped up into our lives.

Wow.

Was I crazy to let the drunken girl back into my life? I definitely was, but she wasn't drunk anymore. Her eyes weren't clouded, it's like the fog barrier she had was lifted.

I smiled at the scene of my daughter kick the ball away from Lauren and towards me.

I got up and kicked the ball after my Maia had passed it to me. "Camz be on my team," Lauren whines, probably not realizing that her old nickname for my fly.

I smile, "Favor you or my daughter, Lolo? No,"

Her eyes lit up to a bright green as my nickname for her was spoken.

Maia was small, her dark hair had stopped mid back, at her age she was short. She kicked the ball right through Lauren's legs, also being small she was able to pass through too.

Lauren's eyes widen at the little girl, Maia was a natural at soccer.

"She gets it from you," I huff watching the little girl kick the ball between both of her feet.

Lauren smiled, remembering her soccer days.

After another hour the little girl became hungry.

"Mommy, I'm hungry." Maia whines to me.

"Lowen?" Maia's mispronounced 'Lauren'

"Come with us, please." Maia tries to reach up to grab Lauren's hand. Though, she was too small.

Lauren's eyes identical to Maia's at this point. Maia's eyes were always bright green when she was really happy, or they were a dark brown.

Seeing as Lauren was too tall to hold Maia's hand, she picked the small girl up and rested Maia on her hip.

"Do you drive here?" I ask my former girlfriend.

"No I walked, my apartment isn't too far from here." She answers

I grab my keys and we walk to my car, I unlock it, and Lauren hands Maia to me.

I buckle Maia into her car seat, then I get into the driver's seat. "I can just drive you back to your house later." I assure Lauren.

This is going to be a fun night.

---------
Maia was snoozing on the couch after watching Big Hero 6 then forcing Lauren to chase her around the first floor of our home.

Lauren and I sat at the island in my kitchen, "When will we tell her?" The black haired girl asks beside me.

"I... Don't know," I sigh, I was mentally exhausted.

I felt Lauren's hand rest on top of mine, and I felt the same spark from our college days.

"I guess you'll always have this affect on me." I mumbled to myself.

"I could say the same about you, Camz."
