barry allen
my name is barry allen and I am the fastest man alive
It was a decision she had made since she was six. And everyone knew that once Maya Queen set her mind on something, it's almost impossible for it to waver.
So there she was, standing in the place she had once called home. Maya allowed her eyes to wander through the interior of her home, soaking up all the
She remembers Oliver breaking a vase whilst sneaking a girl in the house and Thea puking all over the carpet after drinking alcohol for the first time. Maya had to clean the place up before their parents came home. The memory instinctively made her eye twitch.
Speaking of the devils, the girl felt two figures behind her approaching. Suddenly, she was engulfed by a musky scent that could only be emitted from her older brother.
The infamous Queen wrapped his arms around his youngest sister, as if putting a protective barrier around her. "Do you really have to leave, Princess?"
Her lips curved into a smile at the nickname her brother gave her when she was little. "Oliver Queen. You know better than anyone else to ask me that question." She said in a slightly scolding manner.
She felt him sigh and released her from his embrace.
Thea appeared in her sight with a pout on her lips. "You can't leave, Mayannaise."
Maya cringed at the nickname.
She walks towards Thea and patted her head affectionately. "I'm only a train away, Speedy." Maya lets her brown eyes rest on her elder siblings. "I'm going to miss the both of you." She smiled fondly at the both of them. And that was the truth.
. . .
If there was one word to describe Central City in Maya's dictionary, the word would be happy.
And that word was not commonly seen in her books.
Everyone that she was walking past was either talking joyously or laughing. It was different from Starling City and Maya was still deciding if that was a good thing.
The apartment that she had found online wasn't as bad as she hoped, considering she chose the worst one she could find. After unloading the boxes that were on the truck, she decided to get a treat to ease her pounding head.
A fresh scent of coffee beans hit her almost immediately as she walked in CC Jitters. Maya chugged down the caffeine as soon as she got her hands on it. The heat and aroma of the coffee instantly soothed her headache.
"Whoa there lady. There is no need to down it all at once." An amused voice said behind her. Maya instinctively scowled.
Maya spun around to be greeted by a cheeky grin from a man. He was wearing a graphic tee that had the words Star Wars on it. Beside him, two other figures were having heated argument about a...suit?
As if noticing her gaze, the male's head snapped up and instantly his green eyes found her brown ones.
The brunette tucked a piece of stray hair behind her ear and cleared her throat. "I don't believe we've met." She directed her reply towards the one who talked to her but her eyes was focused on the person beside him.
"Oh we certainly did not, lady. I would definitely remember you if we did." He said with a wink. All his friends could do was shook their heads at his lame attempt of flirting. "My name is Cisco Ramon and this is Caitlin Snow." He pointed towards the woman on his other side.
Before Cisco could finish his introduction speech, he was cut off by Green Eyes. "My name is Barry Allen."
She plastered a fake smile and offered her hand for a shake. "I'm Maya. It's a pleasure to meet all of you." That was a lie.
All Maya wanted was to enjoy her coffee in peace and isolation but thanks to this guy, she was forced to socialize.
"So what brings you here to Central City, Maya?" Barry propped his elbow against the table and rested his head on his hand. Maya narrowed her eyes in suspicion.
She took a moment before answering his question. "I'm here for a job."
Cisco raised an eyebrow at her vague answer. Maya looked at him questioningly. "And what might that be?" He prompts her curiously. Barry and Caitlin are also watching her intently, awaiting her answer. Maya was now looking at them with narrowed eyes. Why were they so curious about her?
A memory flashed in her mind and an instant scowl etched on her face.
"Why the question?" She asked defensively. Maya was now looking at them with a challenging gaze.
Barry stared at her with a confused expression. "What Cisco is trying to say is that we just want to know more about you." He explained slowly, as if he was afraid to offend her even more.
Maya's eyes soften at his gaze. There was just something about those damn green eyes.
"I got accepted at Starlabs." She muttered grudgingly.
Cisco and Caitlin choked on their coffee while Barry's eyes widen in surprise.
"Is that a problem...?" Maya trailed off, slightly offended at their response.
Caitlin quickly noticed her distress and quickly recovered. "Of course not, Maya! Cisco and I work at Starlabs too." She explained.
Maya, however, noticed their strange behavior. They were obviously hiding something. But Maya didn't ask any further as it wasn't her business to pry.
"What about you Barry? What do you do?" Maya quickly changed the subject. She also pretended not to see Cisco and Caitlin exchange glances as she took a sip of her coffee.
Barry scratches the back of his neck nervously and glanced at his friends. "I'm a forensic scientist for the CCPD. That's it. No hobbies, no outside job or activities." He rambled on.
Maya's eyebrows quirked and she inwardly laugh at his attempt to sound casual.
"Is that right?" She smiled wryly at his obvious lie. Picking up her coffee she ordered, she got up from her seat. The three of them were surprise at her abrupt action "It was nice to meet all of you." Maya said, sarcasm leaked through her words. Frowns of confusion were now visible on their faces.
"I suppose I will see you both tomorrow." She nods at the Cisco and Caitlin and turned her body facing Barry. "As for you, I feel like we will be seeing each other often." Maya smirked and begin walking towards the door.
She can already feel the confusion and worry emitting from the trio. Maya stopped walking, her back facing them. Why not play with them even more?
"By the way, you are a terrible liar, Barry Allen." She announced airily. There was no threat in her voice but her words just rose up even more confusion amongst the group.
With that thought, a small smile to appear on her lips as she walked out the door.
