A small mermaid

Chapter 6

After school Jenna, Meli and I go to the cafe.

"So Zac hasn't mention anything about having a tail?" Melinda asked.

"Oh yeah," I say sarcastically, "After I told him about my own!"

"Geez, don't need to be so dramatic," Meli answers.

Jenna then asks "But he hasn't done anything out of the ordinary?"

I shrug and say "He just came in my room asking about fairytale mermaids,"

As we sit there, Nixie and Sirena walk in.

They go over to Evie and start talking. As they talk they go the change rooms.

They're probably just shopping.

I take a sip of my drink and realize it's empty.

"David," I say, "Can you get me another?"

He walks by and takes the empty cup from my hand, "Yeah, the usual right?"

I nod and sit there thinking.

He comes back with my drink and we all sit in silence.

"So did you hear about Jamie?" Jenna says starting a conversation.

We are all then indulged with the gossip of poor old slutty Jamie.

As we gossiped I stopped paying attention to them and started paying attention to Lyla.

I get up and walk over to her, "Everything okay?" I ask.

She rolls her eyes and says "Why doesn't anybody know think I can take care of this myself?"

I shrug and take a step back, "Don't be so defensive, I'm just trying to help," She squinted her eyes at me and spoke "I don't need your help," shes spun on her feet so quickly, she didn't see the waiter carrying the water. It splashed all over her, and she ran to the back. I turn to my friends, all of us horrified.

"Somebody track down Serena and Nixie, we can't do this without them."  

I walk over to Carla, and ask her "Have you seen my friends Nixie and Serena, we're looking for them," She lifts her eyebrows and says "Well um yeah, but you should stay away from them, they are so weird. Look at how they pay me," 

She opens her hand and shows me some golden coins that remind of me of the golden galleons from Harry Potter. "Um, I'll pay for them," Jenna mumbles while taking out her wallet. Meli stares at the coins and asks "Can I have those? I wanna ask them about this," Carla shrugs as she hands Meli the coin, and Jenna pays. 

We then walk out of the store and notice Zac. 

I try my best to ignore him, and I succeed.  Thank Jesus.

"Let's go to their moonpool, and check to see if they're their," Meli says.

I volunteer "I'll stay, just to make sure shit doesn't go down,"

Both of my friends leave around the same time Josh arrives with his best friend Paul. 

Great.

I can't check on Lyla. You know why? Because I'm stuck between my boyfriend and his best friend.

Josh keeps trying to grab my hand underneath the table, but I keep wanking it back. What? Don't judge me, my hands are sweaty. That would not be the most hygienic thing. Especially with my whole "no shower life style." 

Although, I do take baths, just with my tail sticking out of the bath tub.

Josh whispers in my ear "Is everything okay?"  I guess he can sense my nervous energy. If I wasn't completely stressed out, I would call relationship goals on that. I stutter back "Yeah, um everything's fine. Don't worry about me, okay?" He gives me a strange look. What do you want from me boy? I'm telling you the truth. 

I then Serena and Nixie walk in. "Babe, I need to use the restroom." Paul then sighs in relief and says "Oh, so that's why you've been off! Is aunt Flow visiting?" Instead of answering, I just flip him off. Paul scoots over so I can get out and confront the two girls.

"Where in the hell have you been?" I questioned them when I find them. Nixie answers nonchalantly "Shoe shopping, why?" I answer in a low whisper "Lyla got splashed and is currently hiding in the cool room," Both of their eyes increase and I speak, "Serena, distract everyone, while me and Nixie carry her out. She obviously can't turn back in there, so we need to get her out."

Me and Nixie step into the back, and the sound of Serena's sweet voice is heard. But now is not the time to enjoy it. We open the door to the room, and see a her in a large puddle of water, that could reach my ankles. "What took you guys so long?" Lyla spoke. I look over at the 2 pairs of rainboots and rubber gloves. I walk over to them and hand Nixie a pair of each. "Put these on," I whisper.

After the boots are on my feet and both gloves are on my hands, I step into the cool room and lift Lyla's tale. Nixe walked in and grabbed both her arms. We step out through the back and tossed Lyla back into the sea. Thank God. 

I run in through the front and signal to Serena that she can stop singing, just as Jenna and Meli arrived. "Is everything okay?" Meli asked. I nod and speak "Everything's taken care of."
