Edeem laid on her bed with a grumble, questions racing in her mind. Okatte escaped, but how? Why did he sound so different, so much more mature? And WHAT did he give me? Edeem groaned and curled in a ball, applying pressure to her stomach. He wouldn't do this on purpose... would he?
Edeem climbed off her bed for feeding time with a wince. She sat with a sharp whine and licked her still healing back paw pad. The battle between her and Crow, or Krim as he was called in Forbidden, was not a walk in the garden. Many wolves had bet on the two and began their own small fights among themselves, and only then did the guards have to break everyone up. Edeem had nearly killed Krim and was actually happy the guards had separated them. The large black wolf had deep wounds in his haunches, punctures on the back of his neck, and a nose exuding blood. She hated the skirmish, mostly because she couldn't control her rage and because her memory of it was hazy. She couldn't help but think Hernonan had something to do with it, but the evil god had not visited her in a dream that night. Edeem sighed.
"Come on now! The door's been open awhile!" the guard hollared.
Edeem shook her head, snapping back to reality. She quickly rose and raced out her cell skittishly. She kept her head lowered as she walked down the hall of unoccupied cells. She paused, feeling someone was watching her, and glanced up. Xohdur stood at the end of the hall, looking back at her. He immediately looked forward when their eyes meet and scurried away towards the court. Edeem tilted her head and perked her ears, contemplating what the stunning, red-brown wolf would have wanted with her. She exhaled then continued her aimless walk towards the feeding area. After the battle, she lost her title as an insane wolf whom not to touch and could not shoulder through the crowd of Forbidden Wolves. She was back to her spot in the shadows, cowering from the wolves who would spit or growl at her. She especially feared Krim and his small gang of friends, who would chase her snarling until she ran farther away from the court. She had thought food was hard to find when she first came, but now it was impossible. Edeem flinched, caught off guard, as the wolves howled when the carcass came into view. She whined, knowing nothing would be left. Edeem laid down to calm her rumbling gut and covered her snout from the smell of the meat. Her vision slowly darkened as tiredness overcame her.
Edeem rose so quickly that her vision blurred and she became dizzy. The voice in her head taunted her, urging her deepest rage out from her utter confusion. Edeem tried, to no avail, to tell the voice to leave her alone; she tried to think of other things, but the voice was louder than her own thought. She turned to her mate Garr, whom she had woken with a fright, and cried out for help. He looked at her, head tilted and honey-yellow eyes contorted in fear. He then gazed at her with a menacing grin. His fur shifted to black and two horns grew between his ears; his eyes swirled into a vibrant blood red. Hernonan laughed, and the voice boomed in Edeem's head, causing a painstaking headache which forced her to fall to the ground with a whine. Hernonan frowned; he sat alongside Edeem and stroked her back sympathetically. Edeem looked up at the evil god, lips peeling back with a muffled snarl. He looked to her, head tilted, and laughed once more. He lowered his front paws as Edeem clumsily rose, headache still pounding. He wagged his three tails behind him with a cheerful pant. The god then turned and ran off, enticing Edeem to chase him. Without hesitation, Edeem took off after the wolf with a howl. He might have thought it was a game, but she knew this was a hunt. She quickly gained on the black wolf, then pounced onto him. He did not seem to struggle in her grasp as she tightly wrapped her jaws around his neck. A black mist then seeped out of the body in her jaws, and the sharp taste of blood filled her mouth. Edeem backed away and stared at her prey in his lifeless eyes, his lifeless honey-yellow eyes. She whined and looked at Garr's dead body before her. She couldn't understand; it was Okatte she had killed, not her mate! A guard ran to Edeem, snarling; he pounced on her and--
