Okatte sat at the end of his cave on a ledge of the volcanoe, looking down at his new tail. It swirled at the tips, and extend to any wanted length. Okatte made it swirl around, off the edge, then back up. He held up a paw, and made his tail reach up and wrap around it.

Liking your fifth limb?

Okatte shortened his tail so it looked as normal as possible.

Your brother...

Okatte's tail wagged, but it felt strange with his new tail. It felt so light and unconstrained. Okatte was happy he could defy the god, and save his brother.

He was taken by Sholo, nearly over a year old now.

Okatte grumbled, "And you didn't tell me?"

I don't want you concerned with him. If anything he's your competition. He has more fame than you have infamy.

"I don't need infamy," Okatte looked up to the constant storm above him, the storm that hid his location.

Yes, you do. If you don't get known, if you aren't rumored to be the most ruthless wolf on this island, Sholo and her "son" will find you and kill you the second some news about a scrawny, strange wolf appears. And he'll have no problem killing you... unless you do as told.

"Her son? Or my brother? Wait, Sholo had pups? Wait no, they're the same wolf, correct?" Okatte's mind raced.

Hernonan's deep chuckle echoed in his mind. Your brother is her adopted son... Hard to believe so much could come from an Asylum orphan. He just took an adult elk down without aid, due to your foolishness with potions. Because I know I didn't bless him with that strength. He's stronger than you, Okatte.

Okatte rotated his ears around, thinking diligently; he finally questioned the god, "If I become infamous enough to where he won't attack me, you won't have me kill him?"

Perhaps, but I can't promise a fate already set out for you.

"What?"

Nothing, seventh... nothing.

"You're thinking about something. And there's something you won't tell me about," Okatte growled.

What you want to know your mortal mind couldn't handle. Trust me, I've experimented with some wolves before you.

"Is that what wolves are to you? Little chew toys to experiment with?"

I'm not wasting my time with you, Okatte.

Okatte looked back at his tail. It had swirled around into various knots from frustration, and the tip of it clenched like a fist. Okatte looked back out and down the volcano, following the little trickles of lava. He tried to look out passed the storm, but all he could see was the fog of the Misty Forest, creeping in like waves on the shore. His stomach grumbled.

I'm hungry for some soul too. How's that sound?

Okatte growled, "I eat meat like everyone else."

Perhaps for now.

"And forever," Okatte said as he leaped off the edge.

He closed his eyes, and imagined himself in crisp air of the Misty Forest, fog swirling around like his tail. Okatte opened his eyes to have his vision blurred by the thick fog.
