The Realm
The ground was cool and soft on Victor's cheek.
He uttered a low groan, blood roaring in his ears. Through the combined efforts of his spinning head and churning stomach, Victor felt absolutely horrible.
"Victor, wake up, please." A soft voice whispered in his ear, dragging him back to consciousness.
Victor fluttered his eyes opened, urged on by the gentle force shaking his shoulder. His vision was blurred, but he could somewhat make out the crouching figure of Seraph at his side.
"Victor, are you okay? You passed out; I am concerned about your health."
Trembling, Victor pushed himself up, blinking at the sights around him.
Wherever Seraph had brought him was very, very unfamiliar.
The grass was an unnatural greenish-blue color and it swayed lightly in the cool breeze. The sky, which was absent of any clouds, was a breathtaking collage of pastel pinks, reds, blues, and purples. The colors were beautifully blended and swirled across the horizon, like the sky itself was created by a skillful artist wielding a paintbrush.
The land had plain, rolling hills as far as the eye could see, but if Victor squinted, he could spot a small pinprick of a structure on horizon.
"Where are-" a sudden, urgent feeling in Victor's throat cut off his telepathic question.
His eyes went wide, Victor's stomach heaving up everything he had eaten in the last twenty four hours. Seraph showed minimal amounts of alarm, simply moving closer to his side and patting his back.
Once he was finished, Victor stood up, trembling even more violently than before. Seraph placed an arm around him, looking worried.
"Victor, why are you ill? Have you eaten anything tainted? Please answer me, this could be serious." Seraph murmured, carefully wiping the sweat off of Victor's face. "I am well informed on human health care, I can help you."
"I'm not sick or anything, it's just that teleportation always gets me..." Victor grumbled weakly, sighing.
Seraph's expression softened. "Ah, I see. I believe that is my fault, unfortunately. I did not factor into my plans how interdimensional teleportation affects juvenile humans."
"Interdimensional?!" Victor gasped, his shoulders slumping. "That reminds me- where did you take me?" Despite his serene surrounds, Victor was starting to feel intense fear. He stared at Seraph, heart beating fiercely in his chest as he waited for an answer.
Seraph squeezed Victor's shoulder, smiling coolly. "Do not be afraid, friend. I simply brought you to the Celestial Realm, my home." He took a step away from him, holding out his arms and gesturing around him. "Isn't it beautiful? The Stellar Meadows are the best place to sit and rest one's mind."
"Why did you take me here?" Oh crap, what would my dads think?! He thought, his mind anything but rested. They don't even like it whenever I take a few steps away from them in the mall- Umbry would have a heart attack if he knew I was in another dimension!
Seraph took a shaky breath, his eyes drifting towards the gently swishing grass. "I am sorry, Victor, but I had no choice. Those poachers were completely merciless with me, I was afraid that you would be horribly injured."
Poachers? Is he talking about Finch and Hawkins?
"And it seems that my suspicions were correct- you are weaker than me. You would have surely been killed by those monsters. I can not even bare to think of that possibility. It was a beautiful stroke of luck that you were left alone in front of my cell."
Victor groaned in response, remembering his breakdown in Finch's basement. I wouldn't exactly call it beautiful...
Seraph took Victor by the hand, interlocking their fingers together. "That reminds me, Victor. Why were you crying earlier? Was there something wrong?"
Victor felt his cheeks grow hot, and he knew his face had to be a shameful tone of red. "Yeah, it's like..." he started, avoiding Seraph's innocent stare. How do I explain this? It's so stupid to say that I get scared when I'm alone. Ugh, why do I have to be like this... "I had a bad morning," Victor fibbed, hoping Seraph couldn't read lies through telepathy. "I was just letting out some stress, that's all."
Luckily, Seraph seemed content with Victor's excuse. "I see. Hopefully you feel better now." He turned on his heels, attempting to drag Victor away. "Now, we must go."
"Go where?"
"To see my mother."
Author's Note- Seraph's mom has got it going on~
