The weeks have passed and I really feel better than ever, Michael makes me happier than anyone could have ever make me feel, Nicky and Ali have been there for me every day for anything I need. I really could say life couldn’t get any better. But that would be a lie.

Aeesha has been trying to make my life impossible at school, literally impossible. But most of the people in school know me well enough not to believe the rumors or nasty comments about myself. Alex is now almost a stranger to me now, he doesn’t say hi or look my way but I really couldn’t care less. He thinks he won the best relationship he could ever have but he actually lost the best relationship he could have ever had.

Sometimes there are people that are just not meant to be in your life for longer than what they’re supposed to. I have met people that have been there for me in difficult times and then they’re completely different. Alex was one of those people in my life, he helped me accepting my disease, and he made me feel happy at the times in which I couldn’t feel lower in my life.

Now Michael is in my life, and maybe he will just be another ‘Alex’ or he could be the one that makes me happy, that teaches me what real love is. Maybe.

“Skylee!”

“I’m going mom” I yell and stand up from the bed in which I have been laying all morning. I quickly make my way down the stairs. “Mom?”

“I need you to help me with Matt today sweetie. Me and your father have an important reunion” she says as she walks around collecting things and puts them all carefully in her purse. She is dressed in a beautiful black dress, with the silver necklace my father gave her for their anniversary. Her hair is pinned to the side with curls in the ends.

“It’s ok mom, I have nothing to do tonight.” I say smiling at her. I was planning on updating a YouTube video today and Matt is just what I need to add cuteness to it.

“Thank you, Sky” she says and she kisses my cheek. “I left food in the oven for you guys” she says as she grabs her coat and takes her purse. “Don’t wait for us, we’ll be back around 11pm.”

“We’ll be fine mom” I say reassuring her. I think that is a mom thing, but every time she goes out she just gives me a lecture on how to behave home and how I have to take care of Matt when she knows I am old enough to take care of him.

“Ok, bye sweetie” she says to me and waves as she makes her way out the door.

“Matt, stop hiding!” I yell as I look for my little brother. We have been playing hide and seek and I have to admit this little boy knows how to hide. I have looked literally everywhere and there are no signs of him.

Something laughs from the farthest corner of the living room. I hold back the giggles that come to me as I walk towards the back of the sofa. I first see a little shoe and I grab him from behind.

“I found you!” I say and start tickling him. He laughs and moves crazily on the floor. I laugh as I keep tickling him. He is such cutie pie.

“Sky please stop” he says in between laughter. I look at my red looking brother from so much laughing.

“Fine” I say sitting by him and I can feel him catching his breath. “Now I think I have something really fun for us to do” I say to him.

“Is Michael coming over?” he looks at me smiling widely. Matt loves Michael, they have so much fun playing that he just wants Mike over with us all the time.

I laugh a little. “No sweetie, we’re going to record a video for YouTube. Remember I told you, you’d be my star today?”

“Yay!” he says and jumps up and down excitedly.

After a long day of recording and playing, Matt is finally asleep. It’s nine pm and I’m not tired at all. I call Michael to see how he’s doing since I have been ignoring his texts all day.

I pick up the phone and speed dial Michael. I wait two long and annoying beeps before he picks up.

“Hello?” his deep voice answers and I smile to myself imagining just the face he has on right now.

“Hi, how are you?” I say as I let myself drop down to the bed. I breathe in closing my eyes to rest them from the bright lamp.

“It’s cool, where have you been all day?” he says curiously.

“Oh, babysitting Matt.” I say like it’s the most normal thing to do. To me it’s normal but any other eighteen year old, on a Saturday would’ve never stayed home just to watch their brother.

“You’re so nice…” he trails off and just before I answer he continues. “I guess I’ll have to take you out since you’ve been home all day today” he says. I have always loved how he never directly asks you out… It makes everything more comfortable, easier and less formal.

I laugh. “That would be nice”

“Tomorrow it is then, babe”

“Ok, so what did you do all day mister?”

“I was missing someone… And I also had to clean my room” he says chuckling lightly, just the way I like it.

“Awe, who did you miss” I say playing ‘dumb’ so he tells me. I know it’s me but I like playing around with him.

“Guess who I would miss…” he says and I laugh.

“I don’t know you tell me” just when I say that I hear the doorbell. “Uh, can you wait a second?”

“Yeah…” he says coolly as I go down the stairs. Mom said she’d be back by eleven and its only nine thirty.

I look through the peephole and can’t believe whose outside.

“What are you doing here?” I say still with the phone in my ear talking to the beautiful boy in front of me through the phone also.

“Surprise!” he says giving me a tight hug. I breathe in his scent, it is so manly yet so nice. I love it. I don’t want to let him go, his hug is so warm and comforting plus it is really cold outside and he’s comfy.

“Come in you silly” I say taking his hand in mine intertwining our fingers. We walk over to the living room he sits down and I lay down with my head on his lap.

“What are you doing here?” I say to him again, now smiling because of the beautiful surprise I got today. He really surprises me every day.

“You know the person I told you I missed today? Well, I wanted to see her” he says sweetly leaning in a little to kiss my forehead. I close my eyes as I feel his lips on my skin. The warmth and sweetness of the moment couldn’t be compared. Michael was certainly something.

“You’re too sweet” I say looking into those beautiful blue eyes. How’d I get so lucky? Next week we will have our first moth anniversary and I don’t know what we will do, maybe we’ll keep it simple but I simply know it will be amazing.

“How are you feeling?” he says with a concerned look on his face. I know I have been having headaches again but I feel okay right now. The results of my last exams are coming next month since they were sent to Germany to see if they could detect anything different.

“I am ok, no headaches all day long” I say smiling widely. I am positive, I think it is something I need to go through and that I will learn many things from this sickness or whatever it is. I think everything happens for a reason, and this is for a reason.

“I’m glad” he says taking my hand, gently rubbing slow circles in the back of my hand. We stay silent for a while, what I like about our relationship is that we don’t need to talk so much, we don’t need to kiss and hug too much because we know we are here for the other. We are not perfect, we make mistakes but we know that we can both work it out and improve in this.

I look up to him and smile. This boy that I have right here with me is so important, so caring and loving. I close my eyes keeping him as the last thing I have seen today, and let myself go to dreamland.
