I knew before I looked down that sparks were flying from finger to finger. I spotted the danger pretty quickly; a man stood with a knife in his hand walking towards Keith.
"Keith! Move!" I ran at the man, arms extended, electricity flowing.
"Lexi," he snapped, "no. I got this."
I didn't know what he was doing, but I trusted him, so I backed up, still tense and ready to fire. He reached his left hand forward, his dominant hand, and an inky black pool of nothingness swirled into existence beneath where the man was standing. It crawled up the man's body as Keith lifted his hand. The man screamed a bloodcurdling scream and threw the knife at Keith.
"No!" I cried. I reached my hand towards the knife, and a random gust of wind blew the knife gently to me. I snatched it out of the air, very very confused.
By the time I looked back at the man, he was nothing but a shadow. Everyone was frozen in shock, staring at Keith, me, and where the man was standing.
Keith cleared his throat. "Continue."
Inky blackness again appeared, now filling the whole room. When it dissipated, Keith and I were standing alone in the school parking lot. "Why are we out here?" I asked.
"We were transported by shadow to here. I also wiped their memory of the past twentyish minutes."
I turned to him. "What the fuck is going on?"
He sighed. "Someone's gotta tell you."
Alright, I've already explained this in the Prolouge so read that if u haven't already. He basically recapped that. Okay, back to the story.
"What the- fucking fuck?" I gasped, appalled.
He nodded. "Yeah, I know. I thought that too. Do you know what element you are?"
I shrugged. "Dunno."
He facepalmed. "Why do I even try? Air. You know, the wind, the lightning, air. I'm shadow. I've been sent by Blaze, a fire, who trains and protects newly formed elementals. I am to bring you back to him as soon as possible. Come with me."
