I have been called a lesbian when in fact I am a straight female. I am not homophobic but I do not wished to be called something I'm not when you don't even know me. I told my mom about this the other day. She told me she had had the same problem in school when she was my age. She also told me this "The reason they call you this is because you are independent and don't depend on a man." I find it sad that women independence is almost always associated with homosexuality. Sure some independent women are lesbians but not all.
