One time I was talking to my therapist about how I thought it was weird teenage boys flirt with girls even tho they have girlfriends and that I didn't understand it. Now while I'm awake with my thoughts at 1 a.m., i think it is sort of smart of them. For one because it keeps your options open. But mostly because they aren't focused on just one person. If you focus on one person it is easier to become attached. With flirting with other girls you don't get attached which means your less likely to get hurt if she leaves. That's probably not the reason they do it but I sort of understand it better now.
