We pulled up to the drive in and all of us crawler under the hole in the metal fence.  Darry protested that it was against the law, but Dallas and I talked him into it.  I mean, come on the law only helps the Socs anyways.  We all took our seats and Soda held my hand.  I smiled at him and he squeezed my hand tighter.  Dallas put his feet up on a Socs chair and she whirled around to face him.  "I'm sorry about my brother, Cherry."  I said rolling my eyes.  "Oh, hey Lela!  That's okay I didn't know he was your brother."  She said seeming kinda surprised.  "Well, he is!"  I said putting my arm around my bother and he pulled me close.  "Okay."  Cherry laughed putting her hands up in defense.  "Don't forget Lela, cheerleading tryouts are soon!"  She said winking at me.  The whole gang snickered so I shot them a dirty look signaling them to be quiet.  Cherry said, "Think about it."  And then turned back around in her seat.  "So sis, you turning Soc on us?"  Dallas asked.  "Let's hear a cheer Lela."  Steve said trying my patience.  "Fine," I spat, "2, 4, 6, 8, can't you give this girl a break?"  I stood up and walked over to the concession stand.  Soda followed me and turned my head so I'd look at him.  "Aw doll I'm sorry...can you come back over so the gang can apologize?"  "Alright."  I sighed and grabbed a Coke.  "5, 4, 3, 2!  Lela, Lela, we love you!"  They cheered.  I giggled, "Sorry guys I overreacted."  I said.  "It's okay kiddo, we're sorry for making you feel bad."  Darry said.  "So you gonna become a cheerleader?"  Pony asked.  I glanced to make sure Cherry wasn't listening, "Heck no!"   I said.  They all burst out laughing and Soda put his arm around me.  I smiled, it felt like old times. I closed my eyes and rested my head on Soda's shoulder, feeling his chest rise and fall eventually lulled me to sleep.
