*Max's POV*

"Julia!" I continued calling her name as I ran into the woods where I saw a man with a scar on his cheek bone, dragging her. Suddenly a scream rang throughout the air as I frantically looked around at every angle. I couldn't see anything but the multiple tall trees that were surrounding me.
"Max!" I heard Julia yell before there was another scream. I kept on running in the direction I believed the yelling and the shouting was coming from. But no matter how hard or fast I ran, it felt like I was going no where.
"Julia! No!"

My eyes sprung open and I felt as if I couldn't breath. I was covered in sweat and trying to control my rapid yet heavy breathing. It was just a dream. I thought to myself. Once I calmed down I noticed that I was in a different location then I usually wake up in. I tried to move but a sharp pain hit me like a train.

I took off the covers and saw bandages covering my torso and my left arm.
What did I do last night? That question echoed in my head as I tried to remember.

***Flashback***
"Yo Max, do you know how fast a flat head- I mean a quarterback can run?" Regan - one of my so called friends - yelled aloud allowing the football players to hear. While we were sitting in the bleachers watching the jocks practice fir next week's game, Regan had that same mischeivious smirk plastered on his stupid face, signaling that I better run like hell today.

"C'mon Regan, not today." I whispered to him pleading that he'd stop while my gaze remained on the sunset. There was a moment of silence until Regan opened his mouth again, leading to me wishing he hadn't.

"What's that Max?! You think they could run fast if they knew we were f*cking their girls last week?! What were their names again? Oh that's right! Weren't they Ariel and Kelly?!" My eyes widened knowing that that was it; that's all it took for the quarterbacks to chase after us.

Regan and I both jumped off the bleachers and started to run.
"Every man for themselves!" Regan yelled at me with a smile on his face before running to who knows where.

I hated it when Regan did this to me; every single time I ask him why he lies or gets us in trouble, he replies that I'm too weak and I need to know how the world is like. And always ends the confersation with, "From seeing what happened, just be lucky that your alive." With a smirk on his face.

I felt hands tugging the back of my shirt making me slow down enough for one of the players to come in front of me and punch me in the face. It took only a few more punches until I hit the floor, wondering if they would stop. But of course no, I felt them kicking me everywhere and heard them calling me names that I didn't deserve. I closed my eyes as I curled myself up into a ball, still feeling the gutwrenching pain of them adding more wounds to my body. And what do you say, before I knew it
.....lights out.

***Flashback over ***

Regan
That name repeatedly bounced around in my head, making it hard to focuse on where I am.

Finally having the strength to get up, I opened the door and headed towards a little hallway. When I finally managed to turn the corner, I was surprised to see Julia sitting in a chair with headphones in while leaning on one of her arms, peacefully asleep.

Her dark chocolate brown hair was tied in a messy bun, her skin was golden when the sun reflected on her, and for some reason when you look at her, you forget everything that's surrounding you.

Not knowing what I was doing I stepped closer to the sleepy dragon and tapped on her shoulder. It took a few taps until her gorgeous eyes fluttered open. Still making eye contact with me, Julia formed a small smile on her face looking like someone surprised her by giving her flowers.

"Hi," she whispered in her soft morning voice.
"Hi," I replied while still looking into her enchanting brown eyes. Oh god, it was even cute when she let out a little laugh while she was stretching her arms and legs, resulting in us breaking eye contact.

"Um, coffee?" Julia awkwardly asked me with a smile on her lips as she got up and went to the kitchen.
"Um, yeah sure."
"Creamer?"
"No thanks." While the coffee was bruing Julia turned around, crossed her arms, and looked at me just waiting for an explanation of why I have bruises almost everywhere. Pretending that I didn't know what she was doing I just looked away.
"Umm, it's a beautiful day isn't it."
"Max." I looked back at Julia in an evident manner.

A let out a long sigh, scratching the back of my head. "Why didn't you just leave me?" I whispered under my breath hoping Julia didn't hear me.

"I couldn't just leave you there! I'm actually surprised that I still don't have a thank-"

"A what? A thank you?! I could've taken them head on by myself, I was fine!" I started to raise my voice feeling a little frustrated, not at Julia, but at me. After I said that, I felt guilty when Julia gave me this appalled expression.

"I don't get why your yelling at me! I saved you!" My eyes widened at her comback but I made a quick recovery from my shock as I cut off Julia once again. "Saved me? You could've gotten beaten up to death trying to help me! And besides I don't need a girl's help saving my ass." I headed back to the room I woke up in and quickly put on my shoes and shirt. Noticing I was walking to the front door in a fast pace, Julia followed me.

"And where do you think your going?!" Julia exclaimed. "Somewhere." I grunted, swinging the door open and marching down the street. "Somewhere where?" She questioned, still following after me. "None of your business!" I stopped walking, turning around and staring down at Julia as we reached the bus stop.

"Look, it was very humble of you for letting me crash at your place but if you don't mind I'll be on my way now." I said with a harsh tone that would generally scare some people but to my surprise, it didn't work on Julia. She didn't even back up in her tracks, all she did was stare me in the eyes.

*****Julia's P.O.V*****

Our faces were only a few inches away as we stared at each other, his eyes glinting with an intese emotion only the two of us seemed to share.
"Look it was very humble of you for letting me crash at your place but if you don't mind I'll be on my way now." Max said in a tone that began calm but contorted into a deep mysterious one towards the end.

"And go where? Back to your so called 'friends'? Why are you still friends with them anyways?" I asked as I crossed my arms.
"Why do you care? Oh that's right, your a writer! A writer that doesn't know what to write about and is desperate for any story that your dirty little hands can find. Well let me help you with that, there is no story for you and never will cuz deep down you and I both know your life long dream won't come true and probably won't ever! So might as well stop trying, am I right?" After hearing that I just stood there with a shocked expression on my face as the bus finally arrived.

My eyes were beginning to water, but before he sees me cry, I just turned around and started to head back to my apartment still feeling hurt.

"Julia wait," I quickly faced back toward Max, "No forget it! I should've left you there to bleed to death!" I snapped back at him without even thinking what I was saying.

Max's expression stayed firm as I continued to walk back to the apartment. I never looked back.
