My eyes popped open, and I wiped the eye boogers out of the little crevices that connected my eve to my face. I was shivering, and my goosebumps were firm. I had left the fan on all night, like I usually do. It had snowed though, and my room was without heating. I pried myself over to my fan, and pushed the 'off' button. I could see the light of the snowplows through the thin screen of ice sheeting my window. My clock, set 30 minutes ahead, said it was 4:47, so I did the simple enough math, and came to the conclusion that whatever time it was I shouldn't be awake.

I put my leg on my mattress, and let it slide under my comforter. The rest of my body collapsed with it. I was soon as comfy and tucked in as any 14 year old could be on a twin size bed. My mouth yawned, but my eyes were plastered open, and I couldn't fall asleep. Today was the dream extraction.
