My eyes started to open, and I looked around. I was sitting on a bench in a park. Leaves of the trees were falling around slowly to the ground, and there were a bunch of leaves already on the ground. They were red, orange, yellow, and I may have seen a green one or two. It was Fall! The air was cool, but the red vest I had on kept me warm. I stood up, and walked around a bit in the little park. There was a playground, but also a long paved path that I strolled on for a half hour or so.
I looked up at the buildings surrounding the park, and saw big tall skyscrapers. I lived in New York. The buildings had huge TV billboards playing ads for toothpaste and hair gel. I breathed in the sweet air of Central Park and started walking towards the street. I got onto the sidewalk and started walking around. My purse was a heavy brown bag, but it looked really stylish. I had skinny jeans on, and an olive green sweater on underneath my burgundy red vest. My outfit was on point.
I went to a bakery in one of the little business stores that lined the sidewalk. I bought a croissant and some black coffee, because that's what I saw everyone drinking. It was morning, as my watch said on my wrist. At 8:30 in the morning, New York radiates the coffee vibe.
I knew where I was, but I was still a little lost about where I lived. How did I forget? I made my way to my apartment every day, and I'd come from central park before. I pulled my phone out of my purse and checked my address on my maps app. Nothing was there. I checked some cards in my wallet and finally I found my address written on the inside of my wallet. I must've written it there in case I left it in a restaurant or something. I caught a taxi and the taxi man drove me to my apartment.
My apartment was in a huge building, there must've been hundreds and hundreds of units. I got onto the elevator, a big one at that, and made my way to my room. It was on the 11th floor of the building, but the elevator stopped at the 7th floor to let someone out. When it reached my floor, I exited the elevator.
The carpet was red and purple, and the hallway with all the rooms was silent. I walked to my room and opened the door, and immediately Sheriff, my dog, ran up to me. His little terrier butt shook so rapidly, it was hilarious.
I made my way across the hardwood floor of my kitchen to the fridge and grabbed some iced tea. I poured myself a glass and went to sit on my couch. P, my Persian cat, emerged from his nap on the top of the couch and crawled up next to me.
I sipped my iced tea, staring out at the sea of buildings surrounding my apartment. I love New York.
