Mrs. Connor pulled out of the parking space with ease and headed toward the exit of the hospital. During the whole ride it was silent not an utter word spoken between the two of us, not even was the radio on. The only thing you could hear was the road below us as we drove to our destination. I kept my head turned toward the passenger window and just stared out the window at passing cars and buildings; I kept quite watching the hustle and bustle of the outside world. I felt a slight smile tug at the corners of my lips just thinking of the commotion; of the craziness. For as long as I can remember, I always loved city life. I absolutely hated the idea of being able to drive across town or get from one place to another in a matter of 10 minutes. I loved seeing all the different people. On the other hand Adain was repulsed with the idea of traffic and crowds.
Before I knew it we were pulling into the long driveway that lead to Adian's childhood house. Mrs. Connor put the car into park, rolled down the window, and stuck her hand out the car widow and pushed the buttons on the keypad that was wired to the gate in front of us. To my left there was a security booth that sat vacant; unless the Connor's were hold some type of party or get together. After Mrs. Connor was finished with the five number combination the gate began to slowly part. After waiting for it to open Mrs. Connor put the car into drive and set off toward the house while the gate slowly closed behind us. As the house came into view I sill questioned myself as to why they called it a "house" in the first place. This "house" of theirs was like a mini mansion, it was too huge to be a house and too small to be a full size mansion.
Mrs. Connor put the car into park and turned the car off. We both quickly unbuckled our seat belts and began to slip out of the car. Half way to the front door Mrs. Connor locked the car doors and began to fiddle with her keys looking for the house key. Scrunching up my eyebrows and nose I looked back toward the car and then the direction the front gate was in. Thinking to myself I though "why in the world does she need to lock her car doors and front doors, it's not like someone is going break in seeing as there's a gate. Hell! Every single house in the community has a gate!" I quickly brushed it off and entered into the grand foyer. The foyer was drenched in white and badge, on the right side of the foyer were the dark spiral wooden stairs. Right next to the stair case was a tall glass, French door that led to the patio and pool. Looking to my right was the family library, on the left was the living area and looking straight on led you strait in the kitchen that lead into a larger dining area. All the doors were trimmed with dark Mahogany.
While patiently waiting for Mrs. Connor to hang her keys and purse up, I rubbed my hands over the front of my jeans and looked around at the foyer. "Olivia, I'll show you to one of the guest rooms", she said breaking me out of my trance. We headed toward the stairs and in no time we were at the top of the stairs and heading right toward one of several guest room they had. Looking around the flooring on the second floor was still a dark Mahogany along with the door frames and the color scheme was still the same. We came to a stop at the second door on the left, and Mrs. Connor lightly wrapped her hand around the silver door handle. "I'll put some of my clothes on the bed for you to slip into, dear. We look about the same size" she told me while sizing me up. She gave me a warm smile and opened the door, while slowing slipping out of my eye sight. I was met with light green walls. My eyes instantly lit up at the recognition of this color, it was green; my favorite color.
I slowly made my way toward the center of the room and took a look around. On the right side of the bed there was a window with a cushioned window seat right below it and right next to it was a little book shelf that had a few book stacked on it. Then looking a little to the right of the window there was a French door that opened up to a balcony. Right next to the doors was a dark mahogany desk that had absolutely nothing on it. Then on the left side of the bed there was a mini hall way that had two doors, I automatically assumed one of these doors led to the bathroom and the other led toward a walk in closet. I reluctantly started walking toward the hallways and opened the door on the left hoping it was the bathroom. It gently opened the door and felt around the wall for a miniature before I found the light switch. It looked like door number one was a winner; I found the bathroom on my first try. So that means that the door straight ahead in the hall way could only be the closet.
