Chapter 7

KATY'S POV

It's not like I did it on purpose. I just never thought Daemon would be in Colorado. I guess I should have thought that he might have went to Colorado because he talked to me about the University of Colorado and how it had all that quartz. I actually was fine with never seeing him again. Why am I kidding myself. It's hard to be a single mom with twins, twin hybrids no less. I missed Daemon and I still can't believe that he was at that middle school. I was hoping for some more time before I had to see him again and now he is everywhere. He is picking up from where he started. I should make him work for me, rather than making it easy for him. Maybe I should ........

Pay attention to the teacher. Taking out my cherry red macbook (Yes, I still have it), I begin to take notes of what the professor talks about. I just want the class to be over so I can wait for Daemon with the kids. Daemon was right, he is staring in my daydreams, dreams. Why couldn't you be apart of my nightmares to prove him wrong! 

Looking at the clock, I push my laptop into my bag and walk out into the crowd towards the front of the school, waiting for Daemon to pull up. I take out my english textbook and start reading for the next assignment, sitting down on the bench in front of the sign of the campus. 

"If course you will be reading while you wait for me and the kids." Looking up, I come across Daemon's green eyes, smiling up at him.

"I was waiting around. Why not make it productive?" I shrug as he lifts me up bridal style into his arms. I laugh, watching him put my bag over his shoulder and curl my head to his chest. Daemon slides me into the passenger seat as Aaliyah and Adam bombard me with everything that happened at school. 

"We played soccer!" Aaliyah screeches.

"We painted!" Adam yells.

"WE PLAYED SOCCER!" I giggle at Aaliyah's excitement over soccer. "NOW ICE-CREAM!" I lightly smack Daemon on the arm.

"You promised, now pay up," I tell him. His left hand is on the steering wheel as he snakes his right to the inside of my thigh, placing heat and a reassuring pressure. After a few minutes, the kids are already jumping in their seats shouting "ICE-CREAM!" repeatedly. 

"ICE CREAM! ICE CREAM! WE ALL SCREAM FOR ICE CREAM!" Adam and Aaliyah shout as Daemon just laughs at their childish antics. 

"I promised ice cream and you're all going to get ice cream. I always keep my promises." Daemon states as he pulls into a Dairy Queen parking lot. Opening my door, he extends one of his hands as I slide out. Adam and Aaliyah jump out of the car and through the doors, waiting for us in the line. 

"I WANT A DIPPED VANILLA ICE CREAM CONE!" Adam shouts.

"I WANT AN OREO BLIZZARD!" Aaliyah screams. 

"Get me an Oreo Blizzard as well," I tell Daemon. 

"Anything for my kitten," he whispers back, kissing my cheek. I take Adam and Aaliyah's hand in mine and walk over to an empty booth as we wait for Daemon to come back with our order. Adam jumps from his seat and rushes toward Daemon and grabs his very large ice cream cone and Aaliyah's very large Oreo Blizzard. "Here's a blizzard for my kitten," Daemon whispers as he slides into the booth next to me as Adam and Aaliyah sit opposite of us, already digging into their ice cream. 

"Why'd you leave?" Adam asks Daemon.

Daemon rubs the back of his neck, I can see the gears running in his head as he comes up with his reason. "I would have stayed if I knew about you two. It's just my family and a group of friends had to move because of something that happened and I didn't think your mom would have been safe with me." I look at him as he says his answer, feeling a bit hurt and weak. He always though humans were weak, what makes me any different? "I will be trying to make it up to all three of you for as long as I am alive," Daemon ends. "I love you Kitten," he whispers, piercing his green eyes to mine.

"I love you too, Daemon," I whisper back, keeping my gaze on him. 

"WE'RE DONE!" Adam and Aaliyah shout. I haven't even started mine! Daemon pulls me out of the seat as I grab my ice cream and head towards the SUV. I eat spoonfuls of my ice cream through the whole ride back to the apartment. In a flash, Daemon, Adam, Aaliyah and I are walking thru the front door and race towards the fridge. Daemon comes back towards me as Adam and Aaliyah sit down at the table with a bowl of potato salad. 

He takes the ice cream from my hand and places it on the kitchen island as he slowly draws me toward the bedroom. "I believe I made a promise to make you purr, Kitten. You know I always keep my promises." Closing the bedroom door with his foot and locking it without moving his hand, he throws me on the bed playfully as I giggle. I purred all right...
