Katy's POV

I open the door to my apartment to see Derek sitting with Adam and Aaliyah with a math workbook in front of them. "Mommy! I can do math!" Aaliyah shouts as she runs over to me with a big smile plastered on her face.

 "Hi Mrs. Swartz!" he replies.

"It's Ms. Swartz and you can call me Katy," I reply.

"Alright, Katy. Adam was telling me that there is an open house today for the 1st graders. Do you want me to watch them until you come back?" A thousand thoughts run threw my mind.

"There's an open house? Already?" I go through my wallet and leave $80 on the counter. "What time is the open house and if you can watch them longer, that would be appreciated."

"I can stay longer, I just need to grab some stuff from across the hall."

"Alright," I tell Derek as he walks to his parent's apartment across the hall of the apartment building. "How was your first day of school?" I ask Adam and Aaliyah.

"I LOVE our teacher! She is awesome and is so much fun! You'll like her Mommy. She's nice too." Aaliyah states with a smile plastered on her face.

"How about you, Adam?" I ask.

"It's hard making friends. Everyone just stares at me, including this girl-" Adam is cut off when Derek unlocks the front door with his copy of the key.

"The open house is at 6-"

"I should get going. The wifi code is written next to the router by the TV. I left $80 for take out and I'll be back as soon as possible." Derek nods as I close the door behind me. Walking out of the apartment, I step into the car and drive to the elementary school with a few minutes to spare.

 Dee's POV

I prepare the classroom for the parents arrival, as I think about Aaliyah and Adam. They look so much like Daemon, but their father's name isn't listed in their records. I watch Daemon enter the classroom with a grim expression on his face, carrying a box of bags I bought for the parents to bring home to their kids. "You're going to scare the parents, or burn down this classroom with the look on your face," I tell him cheerfully.

"I don't even know why you want me here," Daemon says, kind of changing the subject. "Couldn't you ask Dawson or Beth? They actually have a kid going to this school and would be coming."

"After your meltdown last night, I thought you might need to get out of the house and interact with some people, instead of sulking with my tubs of ice cream." I respond.

"I don't sulk with your ice cream. I eat the ice cream while reading books that - "

"-were recommended from Katy's Blog. Daemon, it's been six-"

"I know it's been six years. I made a mistake and I can't undo it, nor do I actually have the courage to find Katy and fix it." Daemon runs his hand through his hair, turning away from me so he doesn't show his weakness.

"Just stay with me for the open house. Maybe you can feel happy with being around adults. Go walk around and come back with a smile on your face; the one that-"

"Don't say her name. I can't think about her right now," and Daemon walks out of the room.

Daemon's POV

I walk out of Dee's classroom into a sea of parents. I walk through the crowd towards the doors and out of the school. I sit down on the bike rails, which are quite uncomfortable staring at the cars. I then plop my eyes on to the palms of my hands. Car doors open around me until I hear someone rush towards the front of the building. "Sir?"I hear a someone ask - someone familiar. "Do you know where Ms. Black's room is?" I lift m head up and stare into gray eyes; those same grey eyes that have haunted me for six/seven years.

 "Kitten?"

"Daemon?" Katy stares at me, her eyes widen in shock. "This-Oh my-"

"You have kids?" I ask, shocked that she moved on.

 "Twins. Adam and Aaliyah."

I stare at her as I remember that her kids must be in first grade if Dee is their teacher. "Are your kids six years old?" I watch her stand up straighter and her eyes flash with anger.

"You left me. You died being their father the day you left my ass." she whispers in anger. Language Kitten, Language. She walks into the building as I stare at the door that closed behind her. Dee knew this whole time, from when she saw those kids. I enter the building to see Dawson and Beth staring at me with wide eyes.

Dawson walks up to me and points at Katy, who just walked into Dee's classroom. "That was Katy. She's here. She's actually here. What are the chances?"

"To bad she hates my guts." I stare at the door as I waltz right in. I see Katy sitting at the table near the window in the middle row. I take the seat right next to her with Dee's eyes wide open.

"Oh great. I can't believe I'm in the same town with everyone that abandoned me. You abandoned me. I-"

"What if the reason you're in Colorado is to give us a second chance?" I stare at her; I look at her eyes with my hand on her cheek. She leans her head towards it as I lean forward, allowing Katy to lean with me. I twitch one side of my mouth up as I push back. "I know you've missed me: It's obvious by the way you're reacting towards me."

"I hate you," the anger glinting in her eyes.

"In your dreams," I say as I smile at her.

 "Nightmares, Daemon. They're nightmares."
